He started off saying how good England were then went on about how open and exposed we were and luck not to conceded a second. Great TV.

Take it we were ****e? Terrible result regardless. Tbf to Southgate we do seem to turn up in the tournaments which is all that matters, dont think the defence will be strong enough when it comes to playing against the strongest sides but we have a few world class players that can save us so we'll have a chance. Always enjoy the summer tournaments either way, hopefully this is our year but cant see it personally.

Only positive is we normally barrel into a tournament on about 9 13-0 wins in a row so this is opposite which by the law of chi means we win these ****ers

Not much that I can think of tbh. Foden wasn't particularly good, no runners beyond Kane from deep etc.

It's too close to a major tournament to turn in a performance like that. I genuinely don't mind England playing ****. Honestly. But playing **** twice in a row in the only games we have before a major tournament when players are (supposedly) playing for a start it worries me. I can see us getting a spanking.

The defence is a big concern, but I think fitting in our best players is a bit awkward. Foden is best in the 10, Jude has been up front this season, Rice has played box to box. To fit them 3 in you probably have to play 2 out of position. Do you even drop Foden to keep the balance out wide? Sounds ridiculous to even suggest that but does a midfield 3 of Rice, Jude, Foden leave us exposed? Tough one.

We have had it with Scholes Gerrard and Lampard before. Manager needs to make the call and not play ppl out of position (Scholes LW) . He needs to grow a set and make the call instead of trying to please everyone.

But...he hasn't got it in him to upset anyone. That's the problem.

Thought of the same comparison myself mate (although was a bit young back then). I dont see him making the tough calls like that either. I do feel for him in a way because the backlash of dropping Foden or dropping Saka to play Foden on the right he will get hammered, but thats why he gets the big bucks I guess. How would you line up btw?

    Probably leaning towards

    Pickford
    Walker Stones Guehi Trippier
    Rice Mainoo
    Saka Bellingham Foden
    Kane

CB worries me, and not because hes a mag, but Trippier has had a poor season for his standards, very poor in spells and hes forced out of position (Im assuming Shaw is way off fitness). Could probably argue Gordon on the wing for balance. Really surprised we didnt bring Grealish, a lot of scenarios I think he could help us throughout a tournament

We'd be relegated no doubt about it. If that's what he does with a world class squad I pity the club team that ends up with him. Maybe nobody will and he'll segue into punditry without suffering the indignity.

Hes been quite heavily linked with Man U. Feels like that would be a ridiculous appointment.

I think it'd be one of the biggest errors in their history. Doesn't appear to have any motivational skills and his tactics are at best described as 'play it safe'. He's an energy vacuum.

Nice bloke but he'd be best off retiring and opening a jumper shop.
