    ditto, and perfectly put chops.

I heard the news late last night, and I'm still genuinely moved by this still this morning. this is not just sad day for football, put a tragic human story that the nation share.

my thoughts go to his family, friends, and everyone else who cares.

SKY told me about this yesterday late morning, and I couldn't believe it. The guy seemed such a down-to-earth sort. Sometimes you just don't know what's going on. Apparently a couple of mental health charities have made a comment about depression, so who knows? RIP

I've lost a close friend almost 2 years to the day through suicide in the same circumstances.

It raises all different types of feelings when such things happen- sorrow, grief and I won't lie also anger.

I know Gary Speed must have been in a really dark place and at a low web to do such a thing but all my sympathy goes the his family - mainly his kids.

I'm with you Eric. Exactly the same thing happened with a good mate of mine 18 months ago. I'd known him since we moved from Liverpool. Just didn't see it coming. He cared for his Dad full time as he didn't want to go into a home. Depression really is a desperate thing. I had a small dose of it a few years back, but nothing like this.

It seems like everyone is swaying towards that it could have been depression but we are of course making an assumption.

I actually hope it was that, strange as it sounds, as anything darker or more sinister isn't worth thinking about.

You're right, but I did see in the Metro this morning that a couple of mental health charities had mentioned depression. It's a terrible thing.

And after that sombre reflection, what about the football at the weekend?

I get sick of my fellow fans bleating when we don't get the rub of the green. Ok, that was not a penalty in anyone's language but let's accept the decision, however wrong it was, and insted look at why the **** we couldn't get a second goal. We had the chances, we drew that game down to determined defending on the geordies part, bad finishing on ours and some bad luck. There you go eh? We weren't cheated and it won't cost us the league, if it comes down to those two points it'll be because on the day United couldn't ****ing well finish.

I will say though that Hernandez was level for what should have been the winner so I'd also like our opposition fans to shut the **** up about how we get all the major decisions going our way, we don't. It goes both ways, always has and always will.

Also Pool fans. Let's not ever hear about our players surrounding refs, cheating, diving and all round bad sportsmanship, eh? That'd be nice, turning into a right old bunch are your lot.

I only saw a small amount of your game, so I can't really comment. I did predict 1 - 1, though. I also predicted that we'd win 2 - 1 with Balotelli getting sent off <yikes> I felt we did enough to win it, with Hart making 4 world class saves, but on reflection, 4 points from 6 for those two games isn't a bad return. Now you know how not taking chances created feels <ok>

Yeah, I do. Krump also made a couple of outstanding saves for them. As did the post and the back of someone's head most probably.

One of the sitters we missed was by Macheda, who was playing because Berbatov wasn't deemed worthy of a place on the bench. No doubt he needed a rest after starting his 5th game of the season last week!

It is these decisions from Fergie that really baffle me at times. Owen is injured, Welbeck is injured, Rooney and Hernandez are hardly flying and he alienates last seasons top goal scorer. ****ing wierdo.

Berbs is having fits on the manc board over the penalty award. It's funny as f..k. How can he whinge about one decision going against them when so very many go for them. Apparently Rooney should have been sent off for repeatedley kicking one of the toon players.

    Get a grip, Berbs ;)

Yeah, hence my post #11291 above. Makes the rest of us look idiots too.

Yes it was a good tackle, yes we also should have had another one but then again Berbatov was offside mid week so these things are sometimes for you, sometimes against.

Rooney's never a red, ball got trapped and he was trying to kick it free. Let's not turn this into a complete wimps game. It's already well down that road, foul play and pure lightweight wimpery getting blurred into one as the divers, cheats, fakers and Arsenal players all cry foul at once.

Got to be honest, this is the first thing that sprang to my mind. That he was about to be 'outed' as having done something or similar.

The main reason being that he just seems so completely and utterly normal and at home with himself with no hint or history of depression. He was on FF that morning and just seemed a happy bloke.

If it does turn out to be the case, that he's been driven to it, then it might be a watershed moment for the British press because to my mind they are completely out of ****ing control and need to be brought to book, quick. The tabloids make me sick, all of them. I wouldn't even wipe my arse on any of them.
