    Some good news

Defender James Chester has confirmed he is staying with Hull City.

Bolton Wanderers and Everton are understood to be both considering £2 million bids for the former Manchester United centre-back.

However, the 22-year-old said: "Of course it's flattering to be linked with Premier League clubs, but it's not something I'll get carried away with.

"Sure, I'd like to play there one day. But the perfect scenario would be to get there with Hull as I am very happy with life here."

Erm, I really don't see anywhere in that quote that says he is ruling out leaving.

Bolton are going down and Everton dont have any money. 2million will only get them James Harper. <somersault>

Not a penny under £10 million plus add ons for James Chester. Then lets see who really is interested.

Its a non story FULL STOP. Saturday proved that JC is not yet ready for PL. He knows that, His Dad knows that.

Whats more of interest is Who NB is signing in Jan. ? Who are all these players and agents that are ringing his phone ?

If the story about Billy Sharp is true then that will do for me. I expect many of our rivals to get stripped of there best players in Jan as they need the cash. Hull City dont. end of.

I can see Donny selling Sharp. He doesnt fit their 'glory boy high wages low talent' criteria.

Well if he is indeed a mate of Nicks than thats it. He lives not far away anyway. I agree Donny have lost there soul. Just a shop window for tacky, out of date money mercenaries.

It must be a quiet week over the wrong side of the Pennines, that nothing more than an article made out of Chester's 'I'm happy at Hull' interview last week.

This must be a joke, right? He's worth nowhere near that, I'd probably value him at about £3 million considering he's not played above Championship level and he occasionally has poor games at this level.

correct. i NEVER said he was worth it. its called fending off stupid rumours and enquiries. nothing will happen as per my original post. its just that after the give-a-way price of Michael Turner to Sunderland some fans fear the worst.

Harsh. He's obviously not worth £10m but I'd say Saturday was his worst game in a City shirt and he still didn't drop a clanger or anything particularly bad. His natural ability to tackle is the best I've ever seen in a City defender. He could definitely play in the PL now.

We asked for £12m for Turner and got £4m, so we only got a third.
So I reckon we need to at least value Chester at £9m.

    We didn't even get that,

We got McShane, and £1.2 went to Brentford and we got 800K.

We got £4m, of which £1.2m went to Brentford and Charlton, so we got £2.8m.

We don't know exactly what we paid for McShane, but it certainly wasn't £2m, it was a few hundred grand, hence Brentford thinking we pulled a fast one.

Billy Sharp would be a good signing, but didn't Ip**** have a £3m offer turned down in the Summer?

I know Pappa Assem said there would be "millions" available (or was it a million?) but I don't think his generosity would stretch to £3-4m for one player.

I still think the defence need shoring up and we should have a nibble at Ant Gerrard which would give us a Captain and leader as well. Plus we could go for that lad at Barnsleh as a Koren backup.........don't recall his name!!

I think people are taking this a little too far. Colcoccini is a quality defender so I doubt they're going to replace him with someone unproven at Premier League level, particularly when they're looking at Europa League spots this season.

Chester oozes quality but he's not Nemanja Vidic just yet. Let's calm it down.
