I'm sorry but the comment you made - don't buy into all this talk about southampton, they've had a few lucky wins,is really quite disrespectful of what we have achieved so far this season or maybe i'm taking it wrong? I agree it should be a good game though and one i'm nervous about after Saturdays performance and no Chaplow who has been immense this season. What are Hulls strong points? hope you have a dodgy defence!

We got a lucky draw vs Reading - we never should have got something from that game - but that's the only game all season I would say we were lucky.

If anything, we've been unlucky. An another day, we'd have got something from Leicester and Cardiff, and turned the draws vs Derby and Burnley into wins. (Nothing unlucky about the defeat to Bristol City though, completely deserved).

It's hard to say. Generally over the season we have had a rock solid defence, we've had a few results lately that have been very unlucky and they have affected our goals conceded column but before those games I think we had the joint-best defence statistically. Our centre back Chester is in my opinion the best defender outside the PL, particularly when defending 1-on-1 he is unbeatable. People run at him time and time again and never get past. Our left-bak Dudgeon is also very solid, I usually would say the winger never gets a cross in when Dudgeon is marking him but Burnley seemed to get loads of balls in our box at the weekend (most of our team looked out of sorts though). Fryatt seemes to be hitting form again up front and McLean will be returning form suspension to partner him. Our winger Stewart as I have mentioned above is just stupidly good at beating full-backs. He is lightning quick and you really can't tell he's been out for 9 months. As for bad points, I would say finishing the millions of chances we create but Fryatt has started banging them in since Barmby took over so I guess it'd be the centre of midfield where we have two decent players but nothing amazing.

Yet if you look into the other thread talking about us staying up in the PL it wasn't luck, it was points earned...some people are a little inconsistent, although I assume they see it as "banter", so thats ok then.

    Please just ignore our WUMs.

Soton will do us at least 3-0 I'm sorry to say.

Everybody has there luck somewhere down the line but to say we've been lucky to be at the top is nothing short of ignorance!

Must say from your views i'll be a bit worried about your wingers,we have great fullbacks in Richardson and Fox but to be honest there strong points are more about the attacking side of things.Must say looking at Hull my impression is that when Pearson was in charge you were very solid and maybe won a game by the odd goal but now i get the impression that Barmby wants you to start playing with more freedom,i know it's only been a couple of games since he has taken over but that's the impression i get,if so then it should be a very entertaining game tomorrow.Under the floodlights in all, love a night game!

I haven't taken in enough of your games in enough detail to say if you've been lucky or not but I don't think your team are some kind of all-powerful god's XI. I'm not suggesting you lot think they are but what worries me is that a lot of fans seem to get a bit too hyped about whoever is topping the league, and I hope our young manager doesn't get too absorbed by it. People did it with QPR last season who were nothing amazing they just played a decent attacking game whilst keeping it pretty tight at the back, it seems you're playing a similar way but it's not like your players are a cut above everyone else or anything. You have a decent manager who has instilled an attacking and confident mentality in your players, that's the way to do it and if other teams like City want to be up there with you we needn't start getting all scared of teams just because they are a few places higher. There has to be an element of all the press hyping getting in the heads of other teams thinking Saints are amazing and making them fear them too much. It's important to remember this isn't the PL where the top teams are untouchable, this is the Championship where pretty much anyone can end up near the top.

I'm trying not to take anything away form Southampton, if anything I respect the way you lot play and the way you make teams scared of you rather than worrying about them. My point is that that's exactly what teams like mine need to do. We don't have any less quality players, just a difference in mentality.

That's the opinion of a lot of City fans too. Personally I think Pearson had alreay got us playing some very attacking football, particularly away from home where we went for the jugular no matter what the circumstances, but I think people decided when Barmby took over that he would make us more attacking, mainly due to bitterness at NP's departure (bitterness that I also feel but it doesn't affect my view of how we were previously playing under NP).

What he has said though is that he likes to give the players freedom over their positions, not keeping anyone in one rigid spot but allowing them to swap around a bit. Robert Koren has been given a bit of a 'free' role in our latest formation as a result, but I suspect (hope) we might see him back in the middle of a 4-man midfield tomorrow night.

You make good points but no-one has said we are unbeatable or some kind of Barcelona footballing gods,we're all just enjoying the ride at the moment and i read some stuff and i just don't understand where all the hate comes from, all i ask is that people don't make ridiculous comments about luck and just give us a bit of credit for being top at the moment,it may not last but then again it may last, nobody knows yet.You say that being top doesn't really say anything but surely it says we have been the most consistent team so far? Can i just say as well that if i turned around and said Hull are lucky to be so high up the table with nothing to base that theory on would you be happy or would you reply witht the exact same words as i have?

Don't take it personally, Tickler always posts this cringey stuff to other clubs, everyone's rubbish except us apparently.

The French Tickler is extremely positive about City all the time, and whatever happens it makes him think we are on our way to the PL, I'm very positive myself but even I think he gets a bit carried away. He comes across as a WUM but I don't think he means it, he just likes to think we're going to win every game. The point I made and his are totally seperate. I don't know anything about how lucky or unlucky you may have been, I just think the worst thing for Hull City to do tomorrow night would be to go and respect Southampton, because that's exactly what you prey on. We need to go there and show you how good we are and try to make you scared, we have a young and inexperienced manager and after a crushing defeat at the weekend my worry is that he could set us up all timid and fearful to try and keep yu out for 90 minutes which would play into your hands. Fans on message boards are hardly going to affect how the team set up, I know that, but I just think if our fans are overly fearful of the game it could spread from there. We should copy how you have got where you are, which is the mentality that you are as good as anyone. I think we have been doing exactly that at times this season but I just worry that after the Burnley game and with a young manager we could get a bit doubtful of our abilities. Maybe I'm talking bollocks but it's just how I see it.

I'm not trying to have a dig at Saints in any way though.

Well we've always bounced back quite well so far this season, and as yet (and finders crossed) we haven't gone on a loosing run. What with our home record and the squad wanting to put right a defeat, albeit deserved on Sat, I can see us winning this 2 or 3 nil.

Your logic is escaping me Tickler.....the way Saints play at home is that we average just less than 3 goals a game. So that means you would have to score 4 to beat us

Twenty-four goals scored at home this season....at the moment. I note you havn't conceded many at the mo, similar to Brighton...until they played us in our last home game where we scored 3 to nothing. You say your forwards are now moving into top form ?? On what basis do you justify that statement - your team has scored 9 goals TOTAL away all season. It sounds to me like scoring 2 at home on Sat has made you delirious <laugh>

2-1 Saints which will keep up your goal a game record COYS

    Hi boys & girls :D

I'm going for a tight 1-0 win to the Saints but hoping it will be a lot more exciting that the score line suggests! Hope De Riddler starts the game and plays on the right wing this time :) Lallana on the left with Hammond & cork in central midfield should give a lot more balance to the team with Lambert & Gully upfront.

Good luck Hull you will need it ;)
