The Portuguese know how to cook fish, and hardly any of it is farmed. Last autumn we had a week there, ate a lot of fish, including wild sea bass roast potatoes and veg for 9.5 euros in a cafe. I love the way they cook the sardines too.
If you get a chance try scabbard fish, it's eaten mainly in Madeira, especially on Sundays, but some places do it. Make sure it's filleted though.
