The good news is... If City doesn't like how the Premier League runs things... They won't mind being knocked down to League two where they won't have to worry about the Premier League for a long time.

It's obviously war between City and the Premiere League now..

If they hadn't filed the lawsuit then it could have been said in the hearing that they were accepting PL claims about their income. By filing a lawsuit they're showing they're proactive in their viewpoint that they are allowed to sponsor themselves

Something else maybe worth noting is Pep's delay in signing a new contract, similarly Haaland and KDB talking about going to Saudi for a last big payday. Conspiracy alert - maybe they aren't confident of a positive outcome of the 115 charges.

There's a PL meeting tomorrow as well. I bet VAR has dropped down one from being the main topic of conversation now.

There’s always been some scrutiny on fair market value though hasn’t there? I can’t say I’m any sort of expert. I know stuff was brought in last few years due to Newcastle but was under the impression it was tightening of the rules but they still were there in some form before that.

Otherwise city wouldn’t have had to hide payments as would have just got their own companies to sponsor them for some stupid amount.

Who knows.. maybe it’s just city wanting to waste prem lawyers time so can’t prepare for bigger case later. Sky seem to be saying there is a link which is where got that from though - maybe they’re wrong though?

Yeah there were rules previously but they were amended post the Newcastle takeover and that's the ones City are challenging the legality of.

Wouldn't surprise me in slightest if Sky were wrong tbf, they regularly are. But I see no way how this can relate to their charges as the rule didn't exist then.

They are all paid under the table.

The fact that if they tried this is spain l)they'd be in a court in a year seems lost on people.

There's something deeply dodgy going back to the very start of city where really no players ever felt like leaving for "better things" aguero, silva and the like were all moved on by city not the other way round.

Anyway it'd very clear that the instant city realised this revenue gap was their issue they started artificially inflating the numbers so the charges could be prevented in future. They are not spending or hiding any more money. They are "legal" as they have fake revenues that are commerically worthless to the companies pumping the cash in.

They want to prevent anyone cutting these streams as they have not bothered chase real sponsorship

I think you pointed it out a good while ago along with Wolves dodgy transfers.

Be interesting to see what comes out of the PL meeting tomorrow.

it’s not good news for the premier league though. The Saudis used the same tactic with the PGA and tied them up in court, running up huge legal fees until the point that the PGA had to settle or go bankrupt. I just read that the £900m funding for the EFL is now at risk because of this…..it’s not good news for football in general tbh. I really want them to throw the ****ing book at City and bump them out of the league, strip their titles and fine them to hell and back. But it won’t happen because it will be bogged down in court until the PL runs out of money.

    This.

Most of us want to see these punishments but it's mainly based on a moral ground rather than law. Man City's owners (or should I say legal team) looked to find loop hole after loop hole and now they're being dragged through the courts, they'll tear them apart with legal angles.

If (when) they win, they'll then attack UEFA / FIFA. I think this will destroy FFP. The crazy figures we see it football now will become a distant memory, it'll go absorb (a lot more so) and potentially destroy football in the longer term when these owners get bored and leave those clubs in the ****.

In other news, Nunez wastes his goal quota on a hat-trick for Uruguay in a warm-up game before Copa America.
Perhaps they have wider goals over there...

He always does well for Uruguay.

I have not seen the goals but maybe if we do get a video we will see them being closer in and maybe a header in there?

One of those really tight angles from the side that looked impossible to score and two tap ins that he was well positioned to tap in!
