Excellent news that will boil all our enemies piss who've been waiting with drool formulating in their mouths at the prospect of him being sold.
Utterly, utterly ridiculous... So you'd take potentially losing Bruno, Isak, Gordon etc. for some replacements and padding?
No, you said make zero changes. That is ridiculous. We could easily sell Miggy and Wilson. And bring in some serious quality
I work with an Arsenal fan who seemed to think it was guaranteed they were signing him, and was talking about next season with Isak up front. Lol.
To be fair, some of their fansites were suggesting he'd be theirs for, I think it was, around £70m lol. Perhaps he'd been reading some of those demented rumours.
Eales set all that off.... it's lead to the entire country thinking Newcastle have to sell all their best players rather than what he said which was actually that we'd have to trade.
It's a hypothetical question about Bruno/Isak/Gordon... "would you take a quiet window" to retain those players. Not the 2nd choice striker and 3rd choice winger.
My answer would be no. Sadly, if we have to sell one of those to make 3 quality signings then I’m all for that
If Isak's staying, it will hopefully sway Bruno. Man City are favourites atm, and I can't see that working for him with Rodri, De Bruyne and Silva. Bruno won't want to end up like Grealish.
I would be asking for 150m for Isak and see what they say. Even selling for 100m seems ridiculous considering we paid close to 63m for him, no way would we be happy with 37m profit for arguably the most talented CF in the league. One things for sure though, if we don't finish 4th this season, we may well lose Isak. Without european worries we've already seen what a weaker version of this squad can do. 4th place is a real possibility, but it will be hard. Chelsea could carry on their form or the lack of poch could demoralise them again. Villa will learn the pressures of CL. Spurs will probably be similar to last season. Who knows what Liverpool or Manure will be like.
Fair opinion mate. Depends who comes in - I'm slightly on the "better the devil you know" side currently but you're right if Bruno goes and we got 3 superstars I'd be all for that but it's the unknown I'd be concerned about - could end up with a foreign dud who can't cut it, a McTomminay or Gallagher type and a youth prospect who needs 6 months to settle again ala Hall. I just think with the squad we have currently, if we can keep the top players fit and firing this season (and Tonali out of the bookies), with no Europe, the team below does well enough to pick up 5/6/7th next season - maybe another outside shot at CL again and then really kick on from there. That squad is better than the one we qualified for the CL with season before last and finished 7th with last year already without anything added. If they all stay fit or we just don't have such a mental injury crisis, that is. Pope, Tino, Schar, Botman, Hall, Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton, Barnes, Gordon, Isak Trippier, Burn/Kelly, Willock, Almiron/Murphy, Wilson (subs). My main concern there would be Pope and his shoulder... Ideal world - FFP is ripped up and we just add 3 superstars and refuse to sell
I personally have faith trippier will find some form and will be back to a level he was before but we will rotate him with Tino.
