I reckon we were gearing up to do it some time ago, but some 'Gulf' conversations allowed us to just let City have a go instead. They'll have a watertight argument about it.

It all seems pretty obvious to me. I mean, Chelsea were the ones who broke it. But they did it with zero risk of going bust, because Abramovic had effectively gifted them £1.5bn. Every club should be allowed to do the same thing, because that's the world we live in. It might be our turn to ride the wave next, but we'll be replaced by someone else, which is fine for the competitive landscape as long as Newcastle United aren't liable for the debt.

These "rules" would have worked if it was a level playing field, but it's not and never will be - but the PL should have nowhere near the power to stop a Forest or a Brighton from being bought by another Abramovic and buying up the players. These people at the PL are glorified marketeers. I mean the 777/Everton fiasco proves they don't really have a clue.

I can’t see this actually being a good thing. How can Man City legally challenging the PL for this one ever end in them winning?

The breaches or charges or 115 fake allegations are quantum. Even if one sticks its points deductions or relegation.

I suspect that the PL are scrambling but they will back down because all that will happen Is Man City create the European super league.

I can’t see how anyone wins on this one.

It doesn’t appear to be big news either? Yet?

That doesn't mean they don't potentially breach UK anti competition laws.

That's the soft-spot they are targeting apparently - that the APT rules contravene competition law. They are also attempting to claim financial damages from the PL to cover perceived sponsorship losses attributed to the implementation of the APT rules, are arguing that the PL has failed to prove unfair advantages arising from unrestricted APTs and have accused the PL of failing to act with the same urgency to control big spending by other clubs competing towards the top of the table.

And I don’t think that law comes into account because football competition rules signed and agreed by the majority over rules business competition law.

It’s a bit like 6 home grown players. Or a 25 man squad or 11 players on the pitch.

    Football law comes first.

I think Man City lose this one.

Really? UEFA and FIFA had to prove their rules were compliant with EU competition laws when they shot down the super league nonsense. It seems highly likely therefore that the PL would likewise have to show that it's rules are compliant with competition law if challenged on such.

The entire rulebook is made up of ****e that simply does not and can not work in the real world.

They try to hide behind self governance but when you have a cartel deciding what rules suit them and make the rest follow it's illegal. Leading competitors are not allowed to communicate and collude with each other in any business field and the simple fact is several PL clubs have and do on a regular basis. This is illegal in UK Law. Weather the PL likes it or not they are not above the law.

As such Man City should slam dunk the **** out of this legally.

They then tell the PL to **** right off as the entire charge sheet against them stems from FFP/fair market value/related party transactions. Most of the 115 charges are for ****e like non co-operation, not responding to enquiries in a suitable time scale, not admitting fault etc etc.

They win this and the entire case against them collapses as they just say we should have been able to do this all along and **** you Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Barca and Real Madrid.

If Man City win this, I bet the others try to break away again, while they can still be seen as the elite. The moment our owners (and potential owners of other clubs wirh potential) get a sniff of spending rules being opened up, the rest of the dirty six will run off crying

Your wrong mate. Ask Rangers about HMRC for proof. UK Law's regardless of what you deem important ones or not, outstrip football rules and by-laws.

If PL clubs decide because they're football clubs they can just say "nah, **** it we'll not pay taxes" and that would work then your just plain wrong.

If you think PL clubs can just build football stadiums and stands without following laws because they're football clubs - then nah, you're wrong.

If you think PL clubs could vote in some stupid rules that allowed refs to be thrown off the top of stands because they made a mistake just because they're football clubs then your wrong.

If football clubs voted to sell booze to kids because they're football clubs then you'd be wrong, same with smoking in the concourses, same with even not being allowed to have a beer in an executive box whilst looking at the pitch whilst a game is in play (you can't, blinds have to be closed if that's the case) - it's all illegal.

When you say they have done nothing wrong they have broken the rules of the competition they have been playing in and have possibly provided incorrect financial records to Companies House and HMRC. If City are guilty of what they are being accused of I suspect that HMRC and Companies House will then be on their backs as I can't believe that they would submit correct yearly accounts to the tax office and for yearly company returns and then submit a doctored set to the Premier League.

While the sponsorship issues are not a concern to HMRC the overseas payments to players and managers certainly would be, particularly if they have been resident in the UK for that period.

Man Utd haven't done anything which breaks the rules of the PL. While there could be a case made that their owners should have failed the fit and proper persons test by borrowing to fund their purchase of the club, it was probably best that they allowed that to happen as the repeated reduction of their profits, to service the debt has harmed their performance.

Chelsea - **** knows. Its a mad house there but I suspect there will be charges coming down for them soon. Think they have spent more on Managers than we have spent on player transfers.

Yeah they'll twist it and their brainless fanbases will act like it's unfair for other clubs to spend money and use that mental gymnastic to start supporting a super league.
