I was also sat with the Bristol fans yesterday, made the performance even harder to stomach. Saints were absolutely abysmal, and the referee was also poor, but most of all Bristol City outplayed us. Adomah made Fox look a right tit a countless number of times, and Liam Fontaine at the back was solid as a rock for them, he was MOTM for me. We were unlucky with the goals, but it would have been robbery if we had left with even a point.

I agree Nigel could possibly change his tactics for away matches. I appreciate that he wants to play attractive football (and some of the play - especially at SMS - is wonderful), but when a team like Bristol play as rigidly as that and constantly pressing perhaps a different approach is needed. That said, it is one game, and our away form isn't as bad as some people make out. I had a Fulham fan telling me yesterday that OUR away form was awful... oh the irony.

One thing though, and I know I'll get slated - saw a stat recently that said he had been involved in 9 of our last 10 goals -, but DROP GULY! The lad has the worst touch I have ever seen on a Brazilian, no exaggeration. When we went a goal down I said to my mate yesterday we should take Hammond and Guly off; shame Nige didn't take the latter off sooner. IMO Barnard or De Ridder should have started.

Thought we were worse in the televised game at Reading tbh which I also went to. The De Ridder goal and coming back from 10 men disguised an awful lot that day. Thought it was highly amusing when after yesterdays game, NA remarked he was a little surprised at the level of performance considering the team had had an "excellent week in training". Yeah but in training, there's no opposition Nige <laugh> Thought the team looked a little complacent yesterday; NA will soon sort that out

Ah Lew Chatterley, saw him at nottarf krap on boxing day 1974, I was a kid and had to ask my godparents who he was and they didn't know either - he came in as a last-minute replacement for either Channon or Osgood, I think Channon who had a slight strain of some kind, 2-1 to saints so I was a happy lad COYS

Indeed, as supporters we are supposed to support. That is, have a little faith. I know that's a tall order for Saints fans, but if you can't trust this lot to do the business I don't think you can trust anyone.

    Business as usual, come Tuesday.

Anyone who thought Bristol City would be a walkover had obviously just glanced at the table without checking out their recent form. I think they were 4 wins from 5 going into Saturday.

Our away form is a bit of a concern, and has been our achilles heal all season. Let's hope we can get it right this month against west Ham, and even more importantly, against the blue few. Though to be honest I'd settle for a draw at Nottarf Krap.

We're still top of the league btw.

Last time I saw us play that badly was when Lew Chatterley was our midfield maestro. Now there is a contradiction in terms - Chatterley and maestro.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I seem to remember us playing non other than Bristol City in the Championship a few years back, they won, & no exaggeration it was a equally bad performance (we've just become quite spoilt recently).
Lets draw a blue line & move on. Nigel, does not need to do a whole re-think, any criticism aimed at him is very wide of the mark.

This is the colour Nigel always uses. I think the colour blue has a psychological effect with Saints players in that once the line has been drawn you needn't think about it any more (or something like that).

Whilst I'm very very happy with Hooivled, and am delighted that we signed him, it's good to hear Fontaine playing so well. Helps to prove that Nigel was right to be interested in him over the summer, despite some people doubting his quality.

As for Guly though, well he's inconsistent - and when he's bad, he's bad. But no way would I drop him, because when he's good, he's good. The heights he can reach are higher than what Barnard or Connolly can reach imo.

Problem with Guly is, generally, if he doesn't score he doesn't do anything!

"involved in 9 out of 10 goals", bollocks!

And I'm not slating Guly at all, i love the guy enough to have put a quid on him first goalscorer at Bristol!

He and the other 10 lads played embarrassingly.

And I was stood right behind a pillar to top it all off!

Bad day but as long we can take our tail out from between our legs and get our act together away from home we should be okay. I've been to 6 away games this season and seen us draw twice and lose four times so I really do hope so!

Do not go to any more away games this season, sotonjoe especially on Dec 18th !!

No need for any rethink, players just need to keep playing to their potential COYS

That stat was taken after the Coventry win (ie before Brighton and Bristol City).

The 4 goals vs Coventry: he scored 1, directly assisted 2, and was involved in 1.
The 2 goals vs Posh: he directly assisted 2.
The 3 goals vs Boro: he scored 2.
The 1 goal vs Reading: he directly assisted 1.

Hence 9 out of 10 goals. And he can't be blamed for not being involed in the 10th (that 26 pass move for Connolly's goal vs Boro), because he wasn't on the pitch at the time!

Lets put this into perspective guys.....Who would have said walsall would put two passed us and win last season. Not many I would have said. Every team in this league are going to have bad results.....Some of the other teams have already had them we were due surely. Lets just hope this is just a hic up and start back getting points on Tuesday. COYS.......

I thought everyone knew about drawing a Blue Line under the previous game.

Archers needs to pay a little closer attention. He's obviously not paying enough heed to Nigel's briefs and de-briefs.

Ordinarily, it's probably blue biro, if on paper, and blue marker pen if on a whiteboard or projection table. Nothing to get all tribal about. ;)

The first time we fail to get all 3 points at home this season I will have to stay off this board for fear of the negativity influencing me to slit my wrists.

Get a grip guys. If we win most at home draw the rest and the odd lose before the end of the season that will average circa 2 points and any difference can be gained by the odd win and a few draws away.

We are in reality 7 ahead of third (Cardiff have played a game more.) Yes I know thecliche of points on the board better than games in hand however lets just be positive for once that we ware going to win that game in hand!!!

Up the Saints and lets hope the Saints fans can be a little more realistic. I'm surprised some aren't calling for Adkins to be sacked!!!

If we still had Chamberlain we wouldn't have lost this. That is all.

Have PFC thrown the towel in^^^^^^^^^^

Looks like it took that crane one blow and Nottarf fell over. I see the team bus is waiting for the players however they're all on the phone to Harry to get new inflated deals elsewhere..........like Donny :)

Yes we would, Chamberlain doesn't play in defense or goal. What you should've said was:

'If it wasn't for 2 deflections we wouldn't have lost this'!!!
