Is he? It is hard to properly tell because of the angle of the camera but it looks like he is just driving down the middle of the track. But even if he was taking the normal diagonal racing line if you look at Schumacher's onboard as soon as Schumacher's wheel gets ahead of Senna's front wing he turns left turning into Senna's car and not giving him any space.

It seemed to me like Senna went a bit deep and Schumacher turned in on him.

I've still not watched it again though yet... That would mean getting up of the sofa. Still trying to get myself motivated today. :)

Yes i think he is driving straight but is noticably later on the brakes while Schumacher turns in early. They could both have avoided it in the end.

In my opinion, it looked like what is usually called a 'racing incident'. However, it is rare for any incident to be exactly 50 50.

I think the penalty was a bit of a shame. Had I been directing the stewards, I'd have recommended no penalty. But just as with football, it is up to the referee on the day. As has already been said, the stewards have more information than most viewers ever get to see, and they usually have a good look at all available camera shots before coming to a decision.

I repeat: based on everything I've seen, I think the decision was a little on the harsh side; but if I had to decide who was at least 50.01% at fault this time, I would probably say Senna, leaving Schumacher at most 49.9%!

When it gets anything like that close, I think a penalty is a bit harsh because there is always room for some error in any such decision.

I wonder if he'll get to stay though, he seemed pretty optimistic on the post race interview, but personally I don't see any space for him

He came across as very positive didn't he? I think it a fair bet he that he at least knows that he has not lost his seat yet, because if he does know already, that was one hell of a piece of acting!

Who cares really, it was the last race of the season and the Renault and Mercedes are not even in race winning contention.
A racing incident or Senna's mistake ... whatever.
I want 2012 to roll on.

Rosberg and Sutil was almost exactly the same, except Sutil didn't chop in front. Both were racing to the corner, it's fairly accepted that the one on th einside willlate brake, and Senna MADE the bend, despite locking up, so being later on the brakes is different to being too late. Both could've avoided the accident as far as I'm concerned and both made it happen, I'm guessing that's how the stewards saw it and as Schumacher had already been punished with a puncture they decided to punish the other driver too, yet another poor decision, how much more sanitisation before no one dares a stunning over-take?

I'm sure he's dissapointed to have only 2 points from 9 races, with only Barrichello and Maldonado having a worse 9 races (yes and the HRTs, Virgins and Lotus'). The Renault team is a strange one at the moment and only time will tell if he's done enough.

But look at how many points Petrov amassed after mid-season, the car sure had problems, as had the strategy

5 Points with an average position (without rets) of 11.5 (versus Senna's 13.9). Its been a car with an outside chance of points and as a rookie I'd say Senna has been out performed by di Resta and Perez this year.

Im just supprised Bernie let him come to a race.

It would be nice to have kimi in the team as they are lacking an experianced hand (<-- not was not a pun)

Do not want to sound like making excuses or anything but in the last race he had a gearbox problem, the three races before that he has had KERS failures, and in Japan his front wing was not working properly. He has had quite a bit of bad unreliablity, not to mention stupid strategies from Renault and a couple of harsh penalties.
