It was becoming clear this was never going to happen, their Australian airline went into administration a week or two ago, they are being sued for not paying back loans they took out. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as they have loaned Everton already somewhere near £200M,

Loads of foreign players, and managers, here speak English and a number of other languages and we think nothing of it.
Clever that he learned from previous foreign players' mistakes and cracked on with learning the language asap.
Think nothing of it? Some folk mock if their English isn't very good. But to be fair I'd guess most European countries teach English in schools from an early age so they do have a head start.
I was thinking of African players as well. And they, and a number of European players speak other foreign languages as well as English. Learning foreign languages is seen as too onerous and unnecessary here, always has been.

Kids these days don't really need to be taught English - the internet, social media, YouTube, netflix and gaming - mostly in English ... The only downside being that they've got a US accent ;.
I don't think that. The old British method of teaching languages - endless grammar tables, focusing on perfection of pronunciation and learning lists of vocabulary, rather than turning communication into fun, destroyed learning languages for a generation or two.
