Where was it reported we were gonna push the boat out this weekend? True, but Romano has nowt about Still to us either, so if the rumours about his contract being sent over last week were true maybe he's not on top of it?
Having lived 15 years in France I still have friends there. The reaction I got, from one, was 'No offence but Lens can do better than Still'. He has a point ... ... big L1 club, big gates, Europe and very close to a top four finish. I doubt their fans will be dancing in the streets if he signs, much like here.
Not worth a lot tbh. There's been very little since and it may well have been his agent playing for time. The story certainly hasn't seemed to change his odds, on coming here, tbh.
This could be interesting.. I'd assume we will hear something from this press conference if he is actually going there. https://x.com/Laurentmazure/status/1796171500556284221?t=cL4GRmt0DrF8mlcO18UJKw&s=19
My first thought was that this would be bad news (if we want Still that is), but without any kind of leaked announcement, perhaps it's not.
Sounds like confirmation to me. Hopefully Sunderland have moved on to an exciting target that can be wrapped up shortly. Time is a ticking.
There's been plenty to link the two parties. Won't come as any shock if he is announced tomorrow. They might have just wrapped things up late and organised a press conference before the circling sharks started biting. We'll survive either way.
Yeah I saw a few suggesting the DoF/Still and a couple worried that their sugar daddy is pulling out. Assume the former is the case and the latter is just the paranoia of the modern football fan. This Still business dragged on way too long for me to care. Been linked to him for what six months now, over two seperate hires? If both parties wanted it done it would have been done.
That does make it odd that nothing leaked over the weekend. I'm still not wasting time holding any hope for Still. That's a fool's errand at this point I think.
Maybe one or two of his backroom staff prefer to stay in France and he is trying to convince them to come to England. Just a thought
Whilst I love the optimism from Wheatsheaf, the Still deal is off in my opinion. There was clearly something played out in the media and Lens are a big club that offer European football. If we did somehow get Still ahead of Lens, it would be a huge coup. It would be a real statement of intent from us and a reason to be massively optimistic.
