Thought you'd gone early on Tickton and Rover's big birthday, which is later this month. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Some great people have birthdays this month. There are always flags out, parades and flypasts to mark mine. Which is nice,
Hull Town FC was formed in the early 1890s I think, was there no connection to the founding of Hull City? I think Kingston upon Hull got city status in the years between the founding of the two clubs, was there no synergy between them? Several clubs that claim to be older were actually a morphing from another completely different club, could we not claim the same?
No, as Hull Town had formed twice and gone before City were founded. ( I thought Hull Comet were the precursors of Hull City, maybe wrong). Hull Town end up having a connection with Hull KR. Like the Hull Town kit. If we had adopted it we would have been the Wasps or Hornets. Wonder what Papa Allen would have done about renaming then? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hull_Town_F.C.
I'll see if I can find it, but I've posted a news article before talking of 'Hull City' playing Doncaster Rovers at what is now Endsleigh College in the late 1800's. The team was formed by the merger of a number of clubs, including Albany FC. The merger was initiated for winter sport by the rugby club that became Hull KR. Basically, all your east and west issues are a waste, as north is the real Hull.
I went along last night, a really good event (though I'm paying the price for the carb-heavy nibbles today). Garreth, Adam and Stan were all great but Fraizer was the star of the show for me. Such a pleasant and funny man.
