Elan Ricardo may or may not be coming - and if he does come, it may or may not be to here. A bit of a pointless article really. https://insidefutbol.com/2024/05/31...on-with-target-despite-deal-with-club/646918/
No doubt. How clubs determine player salaries has always been a mystery to me - why, for example, does Ince get paid £30k per week when Asprilla and Pollock only get £1923k? And Porteous on £5k - that must be one of the smallest salaries going for a regular international player. https://www.capology.com/club/watford/salaries/
I presume Pollock and Asprilla are still on young player contracts? I would think we ought to be looking to pay players nearer the 5k than 30k now we are short of cash supposedly and there shouldn't be such a gap.
Martins is 20, the same age as Asprilla, yet he's apparently on £10k per week. Pollock is 22, hardly still a young player in contract terms. I guess the website could have it wrong though.
Re: Ricardo, very unlikely he comes here first. He is unlikely to qualify for a work visa and so Italy or Spain are more likely his initial destination. Much depends on any international matches he plays this summer at whatever level which is not guaranteed at all. Also sounds like he might go elsewhere anyway.
Yes maybe - does seem quite a difference . Surely we aren’t paying 10k a week for Martins. I’d hope for a lot better! Although only on loan I guess .
http://sportwitness.co.uk/release-clause-triggered-nottingham-forest-watford-player-verge-exit/ Nottingham Forest or Watford? Watford are clearly looking for a goalkeeper and have watched Corinthians' Carlos Miguel (25 years old; height 2,04 m) in Brazil. He would be cheaper than Ricardo Velho (the Portuguese keeper with whom Watford have been linked). Carlos Miguel has not played many games for Corinthians, but he may have made sufficient appearances in the various tournaments (including the Copa Sudamericana) to qualify for a work permit. Corinthians want to keep him, but they can do nothing if his release clause of €4m is triggered. It would be his decision.
Unlikely because he is 34 years old. I think that Cleverley (who appears to have some input on transfers) wants younger players
No thanks - another one at the end of his career. He'll be 35 shortly after the start of the new season
Re goalkeepers- don't we still own a certain goalkeeper that has just finished playing a whole season in Serie A ?
