Totally unfounded assumption. Given the current finances, we should have funds available for 2-3 more quality signings, plus any free signings, such as Kelly. The likes of Pope Burn and Targett will be Howes picks ( not bad but not finds) and the others will be down to Nicksons work largely. What I'd say is where are the real finds ? It was easy paying big money for the players you listed, but now we're apparently left with the other approach ie safe proven plodders.. where are this managers finds ? Newcastle, so far have found nothing. If the money is gone all we're left with is the safe plodders. Would you not like to see some better work finding a few gems?
Creating the kind of scouting network that discovers gems takes time and investment. Otherwise every team would have it. And finding gems shouldn't be down to the manager, that's not his role. Keep stirrng though. It's working on Roly at least, so credit where 8t's due.
