Is John O Shea on drugs, or just blinkered?

John O'Shea believes making the Stadium of Light a fortress will be a key factor in Sunderland retaining their top-flight status.
The Black Cats have been poor on home soil this season and that form continued on Saturday with a last-gasp defeat to relegation rivals Wigan.

Steve Bruce's side have only won one of their seven league games to date and the north east side now sit just two points above the drop zone.

Former Manchester United defender O'Shea is not used to a relegation dogfight, but he knows their upcoming games with Wolves and Blackburn are crucial fixtures.

    Key
"You see the attendances we are getting, the fans coming to support us and especially at home, we haven't had as many wins as we would have liked," said O'Shea.

"That's something we have got to change very quickly because if you want to stay in the Premier League, your home form is supposed to be key.

"We are going to have to definitely change that. We are away next week, but we have got a good enough belief to get three points at Wolves and then get three points at home to Blackburn.

"But that's easier said than done."

    .

If its our home form for the past 11 months then we will be relegated by February. 3 wins in 11 months at home and just been beaten by the worst team in the division, who didnt have to play that well to actually beat us, makes this statement laughable at best.

In tha last 26 home EPL games, we have won just 8; lost 10 and drawn 8.

We have only won 3 games in 2011.

I think John O Shea should shut the you know what up and try and play like he is a former Man utd legend and not more like a pub player and then maybe we will get better at home.

The fact the players are referring to 'staying in the premier league' is a disgraceful indictment of the mismanagement at the club.

A relegation battle should not have even been a consideration at the start of the season. If it was, it's proof that Bruce hasn't actually took us forward at all.

Players are losing their belief, and that is a serious issue.

Oshea might have spoken after the defeat and feeling a bit down of course, but I reckon the players are starting to lose confidence.

I've said earlier, I can't believe he hasn't been sacked yet.

The club need to make a statement one way or the other today

    Well Mr. O'Shea..

Once your performances start to improve, it may have a knock on effect on the rest of the team.

So anytime you fancy playing well, feel free, and show the fans of SAFC why they were glad you came to the club.

all of the players' comments are a joke these days. They all trot out the same trash to the local media. I've stopped buying the Echo until some honesty and reality begin to prevail.

O'Shea made that quote before the game at the weekend by the way - just some news trash re-circulated it after the weekend to make it look even worse (not that it wasn't bad enough in the first place)!!

Home form!! - FFS - I haven't seen them win this season - There have been times when I have laid awake at night thinking about OUR club (it has been ours a lot longer than it has been Bruce's or Short's) I lose sleep because of what's happening at Sunderland. Scary - I wonder if Mr Bruce with his loads of cash and big house and car loses sleep becuase of what's going on? I ****ing doubt it!

Do us all a favour Steve - Hand in your resignation - IMO it has become disastrous now Ellis - which is how you said it would have to get before Bruce was sacked - the fans don't want him and his wonderful, obviously rousing, team talk at half time on Saturday obviously did the trick for the players as they came out looking like they weren't bothered any more - please Steve or Ellis - do what is necessary to get this club back on track

    O'Shea's barry white anyway.

Possibly the worst signing made in the summer.

Maybe its like when I was at school and if someone, called say Titus for example, had sweets my teacher would say you can only have them if you had enough for everyone. ;)
