You have it backwards. Because it's such a significant vocation is precisely why teachers agitate about conditions and pay because the work they do is so significant and vital. It's precisely why they and nurses are some of the most agitated industries. They play a crucial role in society but have so many dismissing what they do and undercutting their efforts.
You do realise teachers come from the same cross section of society that fills other occupations? They don't all have a vocation, neither do all nurses, doctors, police etc. And even having that vocation doesn't preclude them from being crap, and similarly, people can perform excellently without the crusading spirit.
Making children's and parents lives harder or being judgmental isn't performing excellently though is it, I am well aware there are good and bad people in all jobs, just normally the people who take up vocational jobs such as teaching, nursing social care should have or be able to show empathy for others Even on this board we have a teacher saying they follow support plans and EHCP'S which takes time and effort and wanting to help the needs of the children in their care and another teacher ... well they are there for the pay packet as they have said many times No one makes anyone be a teacher, but i feel if your making the choice to do it you should at least want to make a difference and support children

No but your hardly a ringing endorsement for a supportive teacher, you may follow them because it's part of your job but then slag off and point fingers of blame, there's following them and "following them" As long as your happy with your pay and you tick your little boxes
Funny. I had dealings with USSR years ago. Teachers there were very lowly paid in comparison to a lot of occupations. Though lecturers and professors were highly paid and given better living accommodation (better by their standards but hovels by ours). Funny how a state which used to be admired by lefties regarded them. Same with Cuba, where teachers are paid the same as bus drivers and road sweepers.
Not really. Not everywhere seems to value teachers as highly. Ironically, as so many in the teaching professions are on the left, the more left a country is the less they value them.
I can tell the opposite story Ron A very successful man had a breakdown after retiring and was an inpatient they decided to do an autism test on him He was an accountant with his own successful practice After telling him he was autistic his mental health suffered due to feeling ashamed and embarrassed and he killed himself his wife went after the trust and they settled out court No need to give an unnecessary label to someone
So you’re annoyed I do my job as I’m contracted to and get paid for it? Like I said before, I am not a student’s friend, therapist, social worker etc. I do my job as I’m expected to do it and I have professional boundaries. Education is one of those professions which is guilt-tripped by smug ****ers like yourself into doing more and more and more things beyond their actual role for no additional compensation.
Never mind the kids, aggressive behaviour in older people (as most are on here) could be an early sign of dementia.
Like I said i feel teaching is more than getting kids to pass exams we obviously see things very differently, and before you say I don't understand my wife and sister are both teachers and I have worked in childrens homes for over 20 years, but you keep calling people names and and pointing fingers and believing your right
