Of course Tsimi is an elite athlete. I would say anyone in a premier League team these days are. Even amongst athletic people in general... Not many people can sprint (not just run or jog) for 90 mins at the pace of a premier League footballer. Even then worst Premier League players are more athletic than probably anyone any of us know personally.
ok was just going by this part ‘I agree with you, it is a huge step up. He'll be dealing with super elite athletes’ of your quote which seemed to suggest he wasn’t used to dealing with elite athletes. if not then all good
i reckon if you get sweaty while playing it, it’s a sport. Does mean some fat darts players may push it into a sport if the lights are warm enough in the room
And that's why Prince Andrew is not considered an elite athlete. My kiddo, the one that's always on stage doing theatre, claims acting is a sport... And she's not wrong really (especially if darts is a sport) she has to run around singing and dancing (even fight in her latest play) all while maintaining breath control.
I'm not sure why some have an issue with who is considered to be an elite athlete. Your first image of what an elite athlete looks like may well be someone in shorts and a vest, running around a track, or in lycra, riding a bike but that isn't the start and end of what an elite athlete looks like. Geoff Capes (younger generation look him up) was also an elite athlete.
For the record, I agree that top footballers are elite athletes. They need to be at the absolute pinnacle of fitness to cope with to level football
Agreed, but I don't think there initial claim was all, I could be wrong though and I CBA to track back
Ahem drugs. All footballers would be like me saying all cyclists down the street are also elite. I think that's a tad pedantic. Pro footballers are elite athletes. Each sports requirements are different. This is like saying a sprinter only runs 10 seconds compared toa marathon runner at 2 hours.
Pogacer is at the elite of his sport as is/was Mo but Domen Novak and Rhys Williams aren't. Elite means right at the top so that by definition cannot be all pro footballers
They are still elected even if crap as they'd do a job on anyone around them. I was sat beside a lad 2 days ago that did marathons and ultra marathons and desert runs and 200miles duration and such and he was no I'm not elite in can't go 2 hours 45mins. I said right so. But that is elite level running but not a 2 hours flat marathon runner. Rhys Williams is alight. He's not up to one level but that's not reason to **** on top of him. Neither is imo there a reason to say pogacer is elite but the lad in last place is not. They are all elite cyclists. The fact that one is that far ahead (fair or foul who knows) doesn't mean thr other people to raced the giro are not elite Is ryhs Williams one of the top 1% of footballers in the UK? Maybe. Is he one of the top 100 absolutely ****ing not. This is merely a point to of viewing elite verses the elite of the elite.
You're still not understanding what being an elite footballer means. The fact that there are hundreds of them doesn't make them any less so. There are just two conditions to be met in order to be called an elite footballer. You have to be 1. training at and 2. participating in football at the very highest level of the sport. It doesn't mean each individual player has to be at the very top, they just have to be training and playing at the clubs at the very top of the sport. The fact that you appear not to like that definition doesn't make it less true. I started the conversation by talking about Liverpool so let's just focus on them for the moment. All players at Liverpool are training at the very highest level they possibly can in the sport and all are participating in games at the very highest level of the sport. Ergo, they are all elite footballers. Within the category of elite is a sub set called super elite. We have a sub set of super elite players at the club, the likes of Virgil, Alisson and Salah who are the best in their positions in the sport. I will concede that all three of them are past their peak and maybe could no longer be considered as the very best but you get the picture.
