Good Morning. It's Thursday 30th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Should Leeds cut ties with Bamford

Much was expected of Patrick Bamford when Leeds were relegated from the top flight this time last year, until once again injuries got in the way.

The one time England player has a combined total of 3581 minutes of league game time over the last three seasons, that's less than what Summerville, Gray, Rodon, Rutter, Meslier and Ampadu managed this season (just ended).

By the time the next campaign starts, Bamford will be turning 31. Whilst (on a good day) he still possesses that predatory instinct that Georginio Rutter can only dream of, his all round link up contribution has visibly dropped! According to stats from 'Whoscored.com', Bamford's all round contributions place him 19th in the Leeds squad with a rating of just 6.54.

He, along with Rutter are Leeds biggest earners in the Championship. Multiple sources suggest the duo earn £70,000 per week (or just over £300,000 a month). Paddy still has two years left on his current deal. Should Leeds cut their losses, and let him leave on a free transfer (if another club will take time him) or persevere, hoping to squeeze as much game time as they can out of him for the next two years.

Which players can Leeds not aford to lose this Summer

Daniel Farke faces a massive challenge this Summer, possibly bigger than what awaits him his squad season.

Inevitably, there are going to be casualties, following the Wembley defeat last weekend. Mounting debt of almost £190m, wantaway players being lured away by the promise top flight football and all the riches that come with it, not to mention less para-shoot payments put 49ers Enterprises in a precarious position of stick or twist this Summer!

The vultures are already circling around Elland Road, but which players can Leeds not afford to lose?

    Leeds runs through his blood

Former player turned pundit Jermaine Beckford has rubbished reports linking Archie Gray with a Summer move away from Elland Road.

The former No9 spent four years as a Leeds player between 2006-10, netting 71 times in 126 appearances, before joining Everton on a free transfer. Nowadays, when he's not sucking up to the Leeds fans, he and his wife Laura run their own specialist vegan protein business called 'Supernova Living'.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Beckford told listeners of the long and esteemed history the Gray family have with Leeds Utd, which dates back to 1965 when Uncle Eddie and Grandfather Frank (1971) first played for the club. He then ridiculously stated that he believed Archie deserved the Player of the Season Award, based on his age and having to play out of position!

Asked whether he thought Archie would leave Leeds during the Summer, Beckford replied:- “I don’t think so. Leeds runs through his blood. His family have got history with Leeds United. He was born a Leeds United fan and he has come through the ranks.

“This is his breakthrough season. I personally believe he deserves to be Player of the Season because of the impact he has made based on being a young player in his first season. Playing out of position as well.”

    Morning all

Last season I thought Great, Piroe for Bamford, before that Rodrigo, the sad fact is we keep relying on Bamford at some stage during the season.

£10m buys you Piroe, letting Bamford leave, how much to replace him. If Farke had a say in the signing of Piroe I scratch my head and ask why as he doesn’t fit comfortably into this squad.

We need to build a formation and style around Piroe and Joseph, Bamford gets injured too often but surely we’d not release him on a free.

His wages are going to cost £3.6m this year if those figures are true, personally I’d be amazed if they are correct as surely there was a relegation wage clause. Can we replace him for less than this.

Edit… Salary Sport and YEP state Bamford is on £40k a week and Rutter £34k

No, absolutely not, I would even go as far to find out does he have any siblings that can play & get them in !

I still watch his worldy against The Posh in the FA cup, which in my humble opinion more than justifies £40k a week !!

Bamford £3.6 mil/yr wages…get rid, even on a free it’s cost worthy to let him go on a free.

Good morning all. To echo shaks, I’m over it now, can’t wait for next season to start and see who is still here and who we’ve brought in. Can’t see Bamford going anywhere on his salary at his age and with his injury record.

A few on Twitter are talking about the Red Bull sponsorship @Gessa mentioned yesterday expecting an announcement today or tomorrow with one person saying “look up Ackerley sports group”

Just heard from someone else, Red Bull set to replace Boxt as shirt sponsor, no rebranding, no say on colours or strip

Popping up everywhere now, nice tip off @Gessa

They have purchased a minority stake, whilst the cash will be welcomed, I hope in 2-3 years time we’re not moaning about becoming Red Bull Leeds as their stake grows

It's a lot worse. From what I've just read they've bought a minority share in the club. I expect them to take full control in the next few years and we'll be integrated in to the Red Bull Network

Piroe was a no brainer though. We knew he'd score goals at this level, and we'd always get our money back in we had to trade him in.

I can honestly see it happening, it's how these things work.

For now, I will just enjoy the cash they put in for next season, if we go up we can ask the question, would we have without it.

I think Farke keeping his job was part of the deal being sealed, there was a strange article I mentioned the other day, the chairman stating how he liked how Farke conducted himself on and off the pitch and in front of the camera
