Haven't mentioned Russia in a while. Apparently Danish foreign minister has said it is likely Russia will have some sort of military operation against NATO within 5 years. Russia currently trying to redraw long established naval borders... Probably as a pretext. Most likely all a bunch of hooey but Eastern NATO members have started building a continuous "drone wall" to monitor the border. Can't see Russia attacking a NATO member directly myself, not after the debacle in Ukraine. Think it's far more likely (if anything and even this is unlikely) they provoke Románia to attack THEM over something in Moldova... If Romania attacks Russia there is no article 5 to invoke.
I don't really understand where we are going with assisting Ukraine, I know what the objective is but to me it don't appear to be working, just delaying the inevitable - I was never for us getting involved but as we have with the supply of weapons, can't we just allow the Ukranians to do the job properly - what's the point in red lines, Russia knows it does not have to protect it's borders when it crosses into Ukraine, so it makes the job and explanations to it's population that much easier surely? Russia of late seem to be succeeding in their advances, and all that has happened since this war is for thosuands of young men to be killed, and villages, towns and cities wiped out, what for if Ukraine lose, while we sit on our arse safely behind our tv screens. At some point we are going to have to let Ukraine cross those red lines, once it gets more weaponary, but at the moment Ukraine is playing second fiddle to the troubles in Gaza, well certainly when it comes to news coverage. At some point Europe is going to have to make some very hard choices, unless this war changes the way it looks like it's going at the moment and it aint going to be pretty.
Best case scenario is Putin dies and is replaced.by someone less hawkish. Media attention has dropped because it's "a bit boring and dragging on" compared.to the "new hotness in the middle east".. Overall though, even if Russia does inevitably take Ukraine, I'm glad the West backed them. Yes, it's horrible so many Ukrainians have died in the conflict... But it might prevent more wars and more deaths in the future with Russia knowing they will have to fight hard for any new territory they need to grab in the future. It's not like Georgia, or Crimea, or Moldiva where he walked in and took territory without anyone blinking before (which probably encouraged him to take all of Ukraine). It's.probably not going to completely stop his expansion though. He'll probably take back the former Soviet "Stans" after Ukraine. West won't care as much about them because they look less European.
There's no 'might' - If Putin takes Ukraine it wont stop anything, senseless deaths and more senseless deaths.
There are no red lines for Ukraine attacking Russian territory with it's own weapons but for fairly obvious reasons NATO/Europe don't want the arms used in direct attacks on Russia
I say that's an unfair restriction. As long as it's not NATO troops pulling the trigger. That said, I fully understand the abundance of caution... But it is hurting Ukraine's chances.
Especially as it's US bombs and missiles that are raining down on Palestinians Nobody is actually accusing the Americans of blowing women and children to pieces, but they are supplying the means to do so.
We have supplied the weapons for the war in Yemen which makes Israel v Hamas look like a minor scuffle in comparison. Nobody really cared about that one, though.

Out of curiosity (this isn't rhetorical, I don't know the answer) has any major weapon supplying nations said "we won't sell to Israel"? It may be British and American made bombs killing Palestinians today, but if we stopped selling them would it just be French and Russian bombs instead. (Probably not Russia as I know they're quite friendly with some nations that are hostile or semi-hostile to Israel). ... And this isn't me saying we should continue selling to them as I would like to stop, or at least put conditions on sale.. it's just a question.
