@Bob the Mackem your a great poster and a breath of fresh air but sometimes it just seems like you like a spanner in the works I think someone is having a laugh
Don't think it was ever a hard rule just more a guideline to work to to help with financial stability. KS has said many times that if the right kind of player becomes available at the right price then of course we would be interested. He has also always said that money is available for this. It does not suit some fans to hear it though, and the same fans will bleat on about how bad a job they do and how poor the communication is (I do think it could of been better towards the end of the season but TBH all it would of done is undermine Dodds and the team more) when in truth they listen to what the club say and cherry pick anything negative and focus solely on that. DB has done an interview which was glowing about the club, KLD and KS but all our fanbase want to do is drag up the BCB which was IMO a mistake but it is behind us and lessons were learnt. FFS we should all be looking at the positives and preparing for what I belive will be an exciting season ahead, isn't that what being a fan is really about????
I think the club will be trying to get as many 1st team players back to the club to introduce the new HC to them first before any formal media announcement (just my guess on the delay) and would imagine that WS would prefer to speak with them in person if possible before any announcement. If it was me that would be what I would like to do as it shows respect to the club, it's fans and the players.
Interesting that mutual consent departures don't actually mean free to sign for another club, de zerbi has left Brighton where his compensation fee was set at 15m but now he's left its only dropped to 10m not sure how that works, Brighton retain the contract till its bought out? Could be the same situation with Will Still Edit - Figures were off it was £10m but fee is unknown depending on the time frame he gets a new job
If indeed it's true about us insisting that Dodds stays on the coaching staff, a massive IF btw, then we'll never get anywhere.
not sure that’s true like. We got promoted into the championship and then into the championship playoffs with him on the coaching staff. We’ve already got somewhere with him on the coaching staff. all that’s important is that the head coach gets the choice. If he chooses to keep Dodds involved with the first team then great.
The reason I said it would be ideal for Cooper is that they are Prem bound and not a million miles from Nottingham. MON did a decent job considering he's ex Forest.
I doubt it was specifically about Dodds and more around bringing his own people in. Have no issue with Dodds remaining on the coaching staff in some capacity as long as the new head coach is fine with it. If anything having someone like Dodds who the players are close to could help anyone coming into the club. Let’s not forget he may be a crap head coach but that’s not his main role and was chucked in well and truly at the deep end.
What I meant was if a head coach wants his own staff, which doesn't include Dodds, then turns the job down because of it, we'll never get anywhere.
No idea how true it is but any manager with owt about him would tell us to f*ck off if we insisted on who he has as his coaching staff. Walking into a job like this basically with a handicap is just insanity. We need to give whoever comes in the best chance possible to succeed and if we’re the ones who pick the backroom staff then that’s where the blame will lie if it doesn’t work out.
