Never even heard of that! Someone persuaded me to buy a laserdisc player around 1995, which cost about £700 and I think I had one film - Showgirls or something. They were big in Japan apparently.

It was a Philips/Grundig collaboration. Was superior to the others. Went by the wayside in early 1980s when VHS won out. Betamax was better than VHS but dearer,

Yes, we sold Philips, Salora (a Finish brand) and Bang & Olufsen, it was a very premium place for the time.

The return journey was some 250 miles plus. As you say, a bit more than the supermarket run. The vehicle was charged overnight from a 13amp socket. This was insufficient to complete the trip. Out with "the app" and then select the optimum place to stop en route to complete the journey. The future? That trip seemed as efficient as a stagecoach trip with overnight stops at a coaching inn.

With the infrastructure in place here and now, a journey by EV is, to me, strictly limited by a journey from your home charging point, and returning without the need to recharge anywhere else. eg the supermarket run.

I believe though sold as 7kw, home chargers are de-rated.

I worked at a electronics shop called Berrimans on Newland avenue as a Saturday boy in the mid-1980s, so was in the trenches on the front line for the VHS/Betamax skirmish, but have no memory of V2000s.. spent a years wages on a Technics separates system..

Did you have to drink a litre of water every time you sold a Salora product?

At least two litres for each sale, we didn't want to get too giddy.

Actually, I didn't do much selling, I was training as a TV repair man. Much of the repairing back then involved changing the valves. <laugh>

Can’t remember the chap’s name. Used to talk to him in Avenues pub.
Forgot about Salora, they were good. Would have liked some Bang and Olufsen stuff but beyond my means at the time.
I do remember me getting a Mitsubishi TV as he said they required less attention than most TVs which didn’t make them popular with people who relied on replacing and repairing TVs . Good advice as it did well and lasted me well.

Bought a TV from there in the 1970s. The V2000 was good, you could play two sides, giving longer playing times. Although technologically advanced it was expensive and had a number of issues. It was discontinued by 1988.

Priming and painting cars that have a lifetime paintwork guarantee causes environmental pollution.

Either Elon will invest in a better quality ventilation system or he'll offshore the factory to somewhere ie. China, that doesn't have such high environmental standards... the US loses more industry.
