So, not the most exciting of topics in many respects, but with the deafening silence coming out of the club right now about anything of note......

What are we all expecting, thinking, hoping for?

We've had confirmation that they are going to do something with the club crest on the shirts for next season.... I dread to think of what some 'just out of uni' PR/advertising person will come up with but personally I'm hoping we either use the City of Cardiff crest a la the 1927 cup final or we revert to the simple Bluebird in a white circle...

I'd also like to see a renaming (even if only temporarily) of the stands in the ground after prominent figures in the club's history (Ninian stand can stay as is)... Maybe with at least one section dedicated permanently to Whitts?

Getting some of the old players to come back for visits would also be good (I know they've done that before and now have an ex-player 'committee' thing going on).

Lastly, some kind of exhibition on the history of the club, kit history, major points in time, trophy wins etc. and evolution of Ninian Park that fans could visit (preferably free of charge) would be nice...

    Did somebody say rum?

Excellent thread Brizzle and a great way to ease the temporary lack of your match day offerings.

I don't remember where I read this but apparently they're not going too crazy with the badge and the renaming of stands may already be under consideration. Like I say, I can't remember where I read it so there's every possibility that the source is unreliable.

I'm definitely with the renaming of the stands as long as it's about football and not sponsorship. Consulting with the fans is a must.

Yes, definitely an exhibition. Perhaps at the National Museum or St ***ans. There are a number of clubs in Scotland that have permanent installations at their local museums.

I'd also like to see someone go out to schools within the area of our fanbase to tell the history of the club. There definitely should be a comprehensive feature on the club website.

Brains Brewery should come up with a Bluebird 125 special brew.

All motorway signs at the approaches to Cardiff should have a temporary, celebratory addition to them.

A "meet the former players day" is a must.

Time to make Cardiff aware and proud of it's football club.

Just thought that something at the Rhondda Heritage Park would be good too.

I used to play around that pit head as a kid, when it was a working mine.
You can see it from mam's house.
    It's where my grandfather worked.

Was down Lewis Merthyr a lot. The shafts had names......Bertie was where the museum is now and Hetty was down the valley at the other end. I think the other shift by the museum end didn't have a name.....or I have forgotten it.

There's a pub / restaurant in trehafod called 'the bertie' after the shaft.
A club called the Lewis Merthyr.
    Takes me back.

    Getting all melancholy.
Not lived in Porth for 37 years. It's still home though.

Loving the idea of a permanent (or even just long term) exhibition in St ***ans :emoticon-0137-clapp

And the beer is just genius! Maybe see if Vince is happy for us to have Brains sponsor our change shirt again??

Why aren't the club making more of this? Surely it's a great marketing opportunity? I know about the kit but there seems very little else going on, unless I missed something which is always possible.

Nope, not a peep from the club as far as I have seen.

Let's face it, for all our hopes that it'll be something worthwhile, we pretty much know that it'll end up being mostly about trying to flog overpriced "special edition" tat !

I only hope that the bits in-between actually DO connect properly with our history.

I quite liked it when they glued our names to our designated seats.

I got a mortgage on mine first time in the Prem. <yikes>
