PLEASE Swans get your act together, you play a good passing game with no end product and because of that we now find ourselves just 5 points from one of the relegation spots, It will be an absolute disaster if we lose at Blackburn baring in mind we have not won one game away all season and that dont give me much confidence in the team. 5 points away from a relegation place tells me that we need some serious thinking about who we need to give us the finishing power we need....we are not as good as we think we are, we are the masters at keeping the ball but we are weak and not strong enough going forward. ....there are to many big egos that think they are better than they are ....one being sinclair who in my opinion was far better playing championship football than he is in the premiership......i would definitely put him in a more central roll as its not working out wide for him for most part this season he can be a bit of a glory hunter at times where a pass would be better....I hope to god Brendan gets 100% backing because we need it if we are ever going to stay up......5 points is not a lot and once you get sucked into a relegation fight at xmas time then its hard to get out of it......
Yeah 5 points away from relegation zone, QPR are 6 and Norwich 7 , what I'm saying is that we don't want to go down there to struggle either, but it's a very close league , and we are gaining points , the teams there aren't. And if you think about it we are a point further away than before the game today, we were 4 points away then Look on the bright side of things Dai, we could be in wigans place with their fixture list of doom up till the new year.
But we do want to go into Christmas 3 points out of 8th place with players trickling back coming off a November in which we played Liverpool , Manchester United & Villa & gave up a single goal in the 3 games that United needed Rangel's help with to score . Throw in our favorable fixture list up till New years & we're looking better than most . I'll make you a bet 99 , that were closer to 8th than 18th by the time the window open s
I understand your points but its not time to worry just yet IMO. There is however plenty to think about for the manager, i dont see many sides setting up much differently from Villa and that is going to mean we are going to get kicked from piller to post and they will play the % game ! watching the highlights tonight it is clear to see villas lack of posession didnt stop them from creating most of the chances though and that has to be a concern for Brenden. 3 PTS against Blackburn and its all smiles again though !
At the start of the season we were told we were going to be in the relegation zone all season. We were told were going to beat Derby's record for the fewest points. Come November we were told we wouldn't get a point out of Liverpool, Man U or Villa. The end of Novemer sees us 5 points above the relegation zone having played Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal away. We have already beaten Derbys points total. We drew with two former European Champions, Liverpool (Away) and Aston Villa (Home). Yes there is room for improvement, but what we have achieved so far is a miracle. I am all for signing a midfielder who can put the ball in from 20 yards in January (boy, could we have done with one today). Well Done the Swans
wigan are at least getting back on track these past few games, they were robbed last week and they won away this week something we cant do.... we could not beat them at home and were lucky to get a point so they are doing better than us. if blackburn beat us then we will be in the relegation fight and what im saying is we are not as good as some perceive......we cant be not with relegation place so near and not many goals in our coffers......
calm your skin down dai !! if we beat Blackburn we are pushing for Europe!! seriously ,we all knew it was going to be a massive task to stay up, the fact we sit 14th now is pretty good considering the oppo played. The hard work will start in the second half of season but we are close to becoming decent, a few key signings could make all the difference.
Dai forgive me for saying this, but Wigan are not doing better than us, far from it, and take a look who they have until the New Year, where they going to get points from? Saturday, 3 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Wigan v Arsenal, 15:00 Saturday, 10 December 2011 Barclays Premier League West Brom v Wigan, 15:00 Saturday, 17 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Wigan v Chelsea, 17:30 Wednesday, 21 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Wigan v Liverpool, 20:00 Monday, 26 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Man Utd v Wigan, 15:00 Saturday, 31 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Stoke v Wigan, 15:00
what have we done to be honest except win a few games and play fancy football that entertains the public but does nothing for us. all we hear is they play good passing football and a joy to watch, stan the man and keegan and a few more say the truth that we wont survive playing like that and when you see us slowly being dragged into the relegation dog fight then they are obviously right. top half finish is not possible with the players we have, they are not good enough going forward, they are fantastic going backwards though. to play good and not get anything is bullshit, we need to bring players in that are mean and go for the win and not like our showmen that thinks they have had a good game keeping the ball but dropping points nearly every game.......not good enough and roll on January....
Dai we are moving away from the relegation places , slowly yes but we are, and as they have not made ground on us we will continue on. It's not a sprint the league it's a marathon
We are what we are. We are doing better than Wigan (was it an 8 or 9 game losing streak that they had?). We are a very hard team to beat. Our time will come away from home. We are not being dragged into a relegation dogfight, we've been in it since the start of the season! The bottom 12 teams in the Premiership are all in the dogfight; if you have one month where you don't pick up any points, you'll suddenly find yourselves right down there. We've come through our toughest month this season with 2 points to show for it. Now December is a different story, we've got winnable games and I expect us to pick up points. We shouldn't criticise the club and players before they've actually played through December. If they don't pick up many points, then there's at least a reason to be pessimistic. Currently, we're doing ok. Anyone who thought that we'd just roll Aston Villa over today is bonkers.
We're accumulating points at a steady rate, not a spectacular rate admittedly, but what do you expect? We should be over the 20 mark by the end of the year which would be on course for survival. Dai - you're pinning your hopes on great things happening in the January transfer window - and I think you're going to be disappointed. [Am noting on calendar for February 1st 2012 to expect lots of doom and gloom from SS99]
what points ? another yet again 2pts dropped at HOME.......5pts of relegation ....that is not good that is relegation form....
Yes 2 points dropped, but other teams are dropping points as well, all the teams below us except Wigan , dropped points, with Sunderland, Blackburn, Bolton , Wolves, West Brom and QPR dropping 3 and Fulham dropping one. You got to take into account those around us as well.
This always happens... You play 3 of the better teams in the league and don't get maximum points and suddenly the world is coming to an end. We got promoted last year because we were playing teams at the level of Wolves/Blackburn/Wigan/Sunderland/Bolton week in, week out. In fact, many of the teams in the Championship are substantially worse than these teams. But we've shown that we are at a level to compete and score points off the teams mentioned, and also at a level to challenge the teams higher up the table as well. It's always been said that you have to win the games against your rivals to stay up - so why are you letting the last 3 results against Liverpool, United and Villa dictate your thinking when it comes to our survival? Let the boys play against Blackburn first - if we slip up, you'll have reason for your pessimism. If we win 0-4, suddenly we'll be back in the top half of the table... You need to get a perspective on things - games against teams that consistently finish higher up the table are going to be much harder for us to score points in!
Dai, we should be bottom of the league if you look at the investment the club has had in comparison to every other team in the Premiership. We also have one of, if not the smallest squad in the league, and players who are arguably playing above their station. We just GAINED a point at home against a team full of internationals who cost tens of millions of pounds. If we are in the relegation zone by christmas, so be it, but at least be happy at the fact we are coping with teams at the moment, and one nicked goal either way is the difference between one and three points. Like you said, we have won a few games already, so we know we can do it, but it hasn't clicked against Villa, Man Utd and Liverpool in the last three games. If us playing poorly means we are picking up a point against teams like this, we are probably in Champions League form. Try to remember that we only need 40 points to stay up, and to get that you don't need to be winning every week. P.S. I don't know about anyone else, but I am not interested in what Kevin Keegan and Stan Collymore have got to say about us. Analysts, in particular those two, who never come to the grounds to watch the game live, form their opinions around rumour-based cliches that are great soundbytes for radio and TV, but are unlikely to be any more insightful than any other football fan. The only difference is that 'Stan the Man' et al are being paid to voice an opinion. Just because they are ex-footballers, doesn't mean they know anymore about our chances for survival.
Dai I was up in three crosses tonight having a pint in the Poundfold listening to the landlord, giving his account of Leon calling in for a pint and a meal, last Thursday, and he was saying how upbeat the players were, and then I decided to try out my new little Not606 Android app out, only to be met with this very depressing article, I just couldn't believe it was from Dai, but there you go none of us are perfect, and it's been a very down beat day after the tragic event of Garry Speed, I think that we all need on times to get a perspective, and I think it's your turn Dai, If I thought for one minute that we are heading for trouble, I would say, but at the moment I think your jumping the gun a bit, today's game was overshadowed, by some really bad news, that was bound to have an effect on some of our players, who play for Wales, even Bellamy couldn't play today for Liverpool, because he was so upset, so I think you need to keep this for another day, let's see where we are at the end of December, before the transfer window opens!............. please log in to view this image
Come on Dai, only twice have you been outplayed, you are more than holding your own on the field, you are keeping clean sheets more often than others, just a little more nous going forward and I'm sure that'll come in January with another player or two, if it was us up there I'd be quite happy with the progress, you can't base anything on yesterdays game after the tragic event earlier, full marks to both sides for at least managing to play
Don't panic Dai! So the logic behind our relegation form is what? We lost to the riegning champions and Euro cup finalists, held one of the biggest spending sides in Europe to a draw on their patch, and got a 0-0 draw at home against a team with an £18mil striker (a team who, on another day, could and should have finished the game with less men on the field. I'm confident we'd have won if Hutton had deservedly been shown a red card). I'd rather have a system where we can guarantee clean sheets against all but the most impressive sides, and have to find goals, than have to first work out how to keep clean sheets AND score goals. We've got a system that works, and it WILL work, against all but the top, top sides...we've already proven that! Teams assembled for much larger sums, with supposed "better" players, have been humbled numerous times already this season. Times are good Dai, cheer up. Worst case scenario, we get relegated, keep the money, have a stronger squad than we've ever had in the Championship, and probably come straight back up. Having said that, I don't see us getting relegated.
