Despite a lot of silly comments, I don't think there was ever much chance that Henderson would be included.
Why wasn't Mitchell in the squad ? He's had a very good season for Palace and is naturally a left back ! There may be 4 Palace players in the squad, but this one was a glaring admission from Southgate in my book
Neither of whom are left footed ! Trippier has done it before but hates playing there, and isn't half as effective as at right back. Gomez wasn't great covering Arnold's Injury at right back, he was downright awful when played at left back and would be destroyed there at International level. His best position is still at centre half
There's only so many uncapped players to risk at one time imo.
Shaw is so far and away our best left back (annoyingly, as there's so many right backs), that I think he should be given every chance to get fit in time.
Palace and Eze have been superb at the back end of this season. Barring injury, he should definitely make the final cut
I'd have Eze ahead of Jones, Wharton and Gallagher.
Definitely, Eze is the player who can produce something out of nothing. He'd be in his element amongst such attacking talent...
