What a waste of time these friendlies have been for England.
An under strength team have had weaknesses exposed, especially defensively.
Key players unavailable, endless substitutions and team selections which will bear no resemblance to the starting XI for first competitive game in June.
These players don’t need extra games in their legs as most will have played a full season of 50+ games by the start of the season.
The net result is probably that confidence has been dented a little by the results, the highlighting of defensive frailties and the reminder that the players aside from Kane, Bellingham, Saka, Foden and Rice (perhaps) are bang average.
So was it worth it?

Sunil Chhetri has announced his decision to retire from international football after his next game.
India face Kuwait in a World Cup qualifier on June 6th.
He's currently on 94 goals from 150 games for them, which is a very impressive record.

Glad to see some new faces in the England squad - especially the Palace lads, who will bring some energy and dynamism, which most of those left out wouldn’t have done.
