Probably my favourite game of the season that, few contenders from the first team in the early part of the season but that had everything. Well done lads, looking forward to the final
Interestingly their full back who scored the free kick and made their first goal with an excellent delivery, has also been released by Reading
Is it Spurs in the final? If its the same Spurs i watched before they'll beat us, but these young lads are class.
Adam Richardson: 7/10 No chance with the first or third goal and got a brave hand onto the second but it squirmed away from him. Commanded his area well with some good claims and punches. Got away with an error very late on but made up for that in extra time with a fantastic save low down to his right. Ellis Taylor (C): 8/10 Two wonder goals from the captain, both after cutting inside and finding a great finish, then completed his hat-trick to equalise at the death. Played some really nice diagonals too but thought he was a little suspect defensively. Luke Bell: 6/10 Hit and miss from Bell, steps out of defence well to either win the ball or to carry it forward but doesn’t always do it at the right time and leaves a lot of space in behind.. Henry Fieldson: 7/10 Looked the most comfortable of our defenders in the second half when Reading put the pressure on and cruised through the first half. Olly Bainbridge: 6/10 Did OK at left back, not enough attacking threat from him though and gave Watson little support. Did defend well though. Harrison Jones: 6/10 Used the ball really well but in a more defensive midfield role than the number 10 position he is used to, not his fault but we missed the bite of Burke, particularly in the second half. Ben Middlemas: 7/10 Solid in the middle of the park but he too missed the defensive presence of Marshall Burke, who normally allows him more freedom but was still good on the ball and dominated in the first half. Timur Tutierov: 6/10 Quiet on the ball but made a lot of room for Taylor’s goals with some clever off the ball runs, got on the end of a couple of Kelly through balls himself but the goalkeeper saved the first and he created a spurned chance for Ogunsuyi with the second. Caden Kelly: 7/10 Absolutely ran the show in the first half, Reading couldn’t get near him and he got his fourth and fifth assist of the play-offs as a result. Faded after the break Tommy Watson: 7/10 Was quiet for most of the game, although did have a good chance from a Taylor cross, but came to life as the game wore on and created the equaliser for Taylor deep into injury time. Trey Ogunsuyi: 7/10 Had one good chance in the second half after Tutierov found him in the box but got his angles wrong and curled comfortably wide. Held the ball up well and battled all evening with the centre halves. Won it late on with a clinical finish after turning onto a loose ball and finding the corner of the net. Substitutes Joe Ryder: 6/10 Some neat touches and one-twos but not enough threat against a tiring Reading defence. Tom Lavery: 6/10 Not tested defensively after coming on and was tidy enough on the ball. Jaydon Jones: 6/10 Gave us some fresh legs in extra time and was in a good position to have a shot at goal after a goalkeeper error, being fouled as a result led to the home side’s red card. Man of the Match: Ellis Taylor Man of the match can only be Taylor after his hat-trick, two great goals in the first half after cutting inside and then was in the right place at the right time at the end of injury time to score the equaliser that gave us the chance to win it. please log in to view this image Photo by MI News/NurPhoto via Getty Images
Well in lads. Fantastic. Mad to think Rigg, Jobe, Ba, Mundle, Seelt, Pembele and Aouchiche could play in this team Some might not like it right now, but KLD is building the foundations for the next 10 15 years
They've some unreal players in their youth set up at the minute, im sure our boys will do themselves n us proud tho
I think he has a chance albeit a small one, I'd give him a 1 year with a +1 option, send him to a L2 side for the full season, review at the end of the season if he's worth the option, there's almost no risk involved for both parties that way.
Bell and Fieldson, the two young CBs look better every time I see them, don't let the 3 goals obscure that.
It's quite sad when people can only ever look at the very short term and want 'big name manager' and spending.
Spurs in their semi final included at least 3 players who I think would get into our first team (Ashley Phillips ; Alfie Devine and Jude Soonsep-Bell). Going to be a huge ask to best them. Great experience for the lads playing in a huge stadium tho. I’m hoping to go as well as would like to see it in the flesh.
These ratings always annoy me. Saying Bainbridge didn't attack enough but that is clearly the tactical setup, defence goes to a back 3 while on the ball with Watson and Taylor providing the width. Uneducated bollocks as per from our god awful fanzines.
Thats if he gets a L2 move, he needs a perm move so he can focus on his career. Hes only a yr younger than cirkin n hume and they are so far ahead of him We cant just keep a hold of players that have a small chance of making it. Its not fair on them, us or the younger lads behind them Ive seen loads of players over the last few yrs do really well at youth level but really struggle to make their mark at senior level Will harris was class at u21 for us, now at darlington Hawkes was a stand out now at tranmere Wearne had to drop to national league with gateshead to make it The jump to senior football is huge n for taylor to make it he needs to go find a permanent club
