    They should get a thread set up on the Arsenal board titled “Arsenal sympathisers”, they’ll feel right at home there.

    Don't get me wrong, from you guys, I understand it. It's shameless as ****, but I understand. <laugh>. That part of my post you quoted wasn't really directed toward Spurs fans. However, it does feel like it was us against the world based on how much joy and happiness not winning the league seemed to bring others - including fans of teams that I didn't even know hated us.

    People can banter me as much as they want, but I'm much more satisfied being this close and not winning the league, rather than the sheer apathy and disenfranchisement I had before. Whether we achieve it soon or not remains to be seen, but the point is I actually have belief again - and this was taken away from me for a long time prior.

    It's difficult for me to be too upset because, as I mentioned, we're up against a team who had just won a treble last season, likely to win a double this season and have made history by winning 4 league titles in a row...with the best manager in the world currently....and who have the small matter of 116 charges to their name...but we move.

    Can't speak on behalf of every Arsenal fan, but there were two times I experienced a close shave with you guys - in 2016/17 and in 2018/19.

    My initial reaction to you not winning the league in 2017 and losing in the CL final 2019? Relief. It was just relief. I couldn't even bear to 'celebrate' or go crazy because I just wanted it to be over <laugh>. It was a horrid feeling that I, naturally, hope never happens again. I took the piss a tiny bit sure, but a few days later, I was more focused on our decline under Wenger (finishing outside the top-4 for the 1st time ever under his tenure) and getting walloped by Chelsea in the EL final (can't stand Chelsea, so this defeat ****ing hurt a lot).

    Obviously not everyone is wired this way, and I get you can react how you want as a fan - as I said in my last comment, that part of my post you quoted wasn't really directed toward Spurs fan, more football fans in general. But I still think the reaction globally has been absolutely crazy - which makes me think, if we had done it, what would the reaction have been? Stone cold silence?

    As I said, I will be keeping a particular eye on how you do next season, DH. This season, it was a transitional season, new manager, best player leaving etc, so I gave you the benefit of the doubt and didn't watch you too closely after November onwards.

    But the crap I've been taking over the past 24 hours? Oh, I do not forget. You'd better hope and pray we don't go one step further next season because it will be a brutal Summer next year if we do.

    I can't get all joyous about Arsenal not winning it, partly because of who did. If I take a step back and am honest about things, it isn't Arsenal who are leading us to the death of competitive football in the Premier League. So excuse me Spurs fans if I don't celebrate that much, because I really hate City for everything they represent. And Chelsea of course.

    I will always be far more disappointed in Arsenal’s failures than I would be happy watching Spurs’ failures.

    Like I said regarding the EL/CL final 2019, as relieved as I was that you didn’t win the CL, that relief wore off after a couple days. Whereas I was sulking for weeks and weeks thinking about Chelsea battering us 4-1 in Baku and blowing top-4 under Emery.

    Tbh that EL final still pisses me off and even though we’ve beaten Chelsea plenty of times since then (including in the FA cup final 2020 and battering them 5-0 this season), that still isn’t enough for me.

    I need us to play them again in a huge final where the stakes are high, I need us to thrash them and I need their awful fans to feel the pain I felt.

    There are quite a few of us who have stepped forward to be sent into exile on the Arsenal board.

    I'm pretty sure our rebel alliance includes

    @PowerSpurs
    @Spurf
    @vimhawk
    @The Changing Man
    @Crackermanjack2

    And I have my suspicions that
    @Left on the Shelf and @Tilly'sowner might be leaning towards us.

    We might have to set up an alternative forum.

    Call it NotNot606 or something very original like that.

    Here’s a link to the Arsenal board for you all:

    If you all wouldn’t mind going there so that you can continue with your condolences, whilst the rest of us enjoy this rival watch thread, that’d be great.

    Nah, a hard pass from me! :steam:

    Wanting Spurs to win against Man City in the hope of qualifying for CL even if it meant Arsenal potentially winning doesn’t mean I can even hint of any respect or positivity towards Arsenal!

    Sorry guys!

    I don't care about Arsenal. I am not interested in their results or winnings. I am a Spurs fan but I do not use the club as an extension of my ego. I follow Spurs and I want to win every game. Football is a simple game and I enjoy it on that basis.
    Did you know that Spurs claim to have 3 million fans in the UK and 180 million worldwide. The fans who are most concerned with Arsenal are the ones who live in North London because the culture they live in is based around that old rivalry, but as most fans do not live anywhere near London, never mind North London it's not the same for them.

    It's also different if you are a season ticket holder. I used to be in the 70's and 80's and you are more likely to get involved in the rivalry then. I can also see the argument that people who go to the games are the true supporters and their views matter but the PL is a global phenomenon now and that, as we can see, is changing the game.

    It’s football rivalry. Spurs finished 2nd behind Conte’s Chelsea in 2017 and got pelters for ‘bottling’ the league. Got to the CL final in 2019 and lost 2-0 against Klopp’s strongest Liverpool team but again got pelters for ‘bottling’ it.

    You know you’re doing well when rival fans take the piss.

    FWIW I think Arsenal will be right up there next season too anyway.

    I do not stalk you in real life or in Internet land. So the answer is :

    1. no
    2. I don't care

    " ... I just find it crazy how much people have enjoyed Arsenal not winning the league the past two years.
    The reaction was far more vociferous than I ever expected."

    1. Confirmation bias ??
    2. good

    "It sucks we've come close and not won it, but I'd MUCH rather be in the position we're in now compared to before."

    1. sure
    2. stop crying, loser

    (For the audience : all the 1s are objective and all the 2s are "banter" ) .

    He also won the Champions League and Super Cup with Liverpool without stepping foot on the pitch.
    He's clearly some sort of stealth supersub.
