They're reportedly cashing in on Douglas Luiz this summer, not least because they have to make up something like £50m to meet FFP even with the CL money
Scott Carson picked up his 11th trophy for City having played just 107 mins. Does he have the best job in the world?
You lot are hilarious If winning 16, drawing 1 and losing 1 of your games in the second half of the season is ‘bottling it’, then fair enough. I wonder what we call what you boys did when you were in a commanding position to get top-4 earlier in the season only to end up in the Europa League? Wasn’t your form in the second half of the season basically midtable standard? Yikes. The reaction to us not winning the league from Arsenal haters has been absolutely insane, but I can only assume this outpouring of emotion is because we are seen as a genuine threat now, which we weren’t before. Celebrations still a bit OTT, though. Nonetheless, will be keeping a watchful eye on how you get on next season. I’m sure it’ll be memorable one way or another.
I might be in a minority of one (although I know there are at least 3 other regulars on here who are broadly in agreement), but I'm not going to pour scorn on you for the simple reason you've articulated: you didn't actually bottle anything. The wobble at the end of Dec cost you dearly but every time we all expected the traditional Arsenal meltdown...it simply never came. You just pushed on. You've had a very impressive season all things considered and as I've been saying all year, whilst I don't want Arsenal to do well or win major trophies, when you do well it ironically sheds light on our own path forward and our exec would do well to draw plenty of lessons from you. You appointed Arteta barely a month after we sacked Poch. The comparative journeys of the two clubs since them have been vastly different, even though all the while our new stadium has been narrowing (and briefly overturning) the once significant financial gap between the two clubs. I've said it time and again; what City do is irrelevant to me because we don't openly cheat and if we did I'd stop supporting Spurs. What Arsenal do is very relevant because we can back our manager with us much confidence as you have yours, support him with transfer fees and wages as you have yours, and hopefully we too can have a real go at winning the big pot.
You didn't bottle anything....probably outperformed actually. Same with us really over the whole season. How your winner today wasn't disallowed is another story....
Seems like you're the only two rational and fair Spurs fans around tonight. I've been getting it in the neck all evening
To the victor the spoils, to the loser the WUMs. If you cannot handle the latter, stay well clear for a while.
Brother, have you seen how much **** I've been taking from 2008 - 2022? I've seen my team finish the lowest I've ever seen with back-to-back 8th placed finishes in recent years, got absolutely humiliated in a Europa League final to London rivals (2019 v Chelsea), humiliated in a domestic cup final in Wenger's final season (2018 v Man City), embarrassed in what was our best chance to win silverware after a 6-year drought (2011 v Birmingham City), lost 6-0 to a manager I utterly detest on Wenger's 1000th game in charge of the club (Mourinho), drew at home to an Atletico Madrid team who had 10-men for 80 minutes that effectively cost us the chance to make a Europa League final in 2018, Leicester flipping City trumping us to a league title despite doing the double over them, countless players leaving the club only to win major honours elsewhere, gift-wrapped Man Utd their last league title by handing over our best player for a derisory fee, KO'd out of the cups by lower league opposition (Bradford City, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers to name a few) and got absolutely violated in the Champions League repeatedly by Barcelona and Bayern Munich... This is ALL from the top of my head. If you're suggesting I don't have a thick skin, believe me, you couldn't be more wrong. I've taken some serious pelters during this time from rival fans. I just find it crazy how much people have enjoyed Arsenal not winning the league the past two years. The reaction was far more vociferous than I ever expected. It sucks we've come close and not won it, but I'd MUCH rather be in the position we're in now compared to before.
Tbh I have to work with some really obnoxious gooners who love to dish it out, but can't take it at all. One, in particular, just goes sick to avoid any kind of verbal retribution so I'm not expecting to see him until August at the earliest! Seriously, you guys crack me up because we all know that if the shoe was on the other foot you'd be ten times worse and I speak from personal experience because unfortunately I've had to take it in the past from some of the ****ers I have to work with!
And so you should. Pains me to say it, but your lot have done well. Notwithstanding the club's support of a certain individual, there's a lot of credit in pushing the FFP-cheating Mancs to the last weekend. Hope (and think) we'll be more competitive next season. So enjoy it while it lasts!
No different to people claiming we bottled the league v Leicester (though we were never top of the league) and the next season against Chelsea when we won 12 out of our last 13 matches (scoring 40 goals conceding 8). We won 10 then lost to West Ham and the skysports presenter asked if was yet another case of tottenham bottling it...pretty certain it was Rachel Riley. Thems the rules mate...we didn't make them
I'm sure I remember you lot enjoying us not winning the league and CL under pochettino...and it was from utd, city, Liverpool, Chelsea, west ham fans too... Like I said just obeying the rules mate and having a whole lot of fun doing so
