Once again BIG thanks to Doc. Best wishes wherever your career takes you next. Some of those goals , what memories. And everyone stop fretting about Seri leaving. Bellingham to replace him. Done deal.
I suspect no one here knows exactly how any one was told about not being retained. Docs comments could be taken a few different ways, He's done really well out of the club over the years and is still young enough to forge a new career with a b=new club. Good luck to him.
Maybe like the team sheet is put up for games, the current incumbent feel the retain list is similar and that when that is posted up then it is informing the players at the same time. I am sure Liam before he went would have marked his card, and I have to say when I saw him walking round the pitch after the Ipswich game he had the look of someone who was saying his final goodbyes. I do agree, it seems strange if someone didn't have a word with the leaves, but Football has become a cut-throat business and players are generally well paid and looked after, and maybe this is just a sign of the timers when contracts finish.
Even if that's the case, surely it's received enough backlash over the last few years for clubs to be better.
We don't know the full story, I think this should be raised by someone with Tan at the next opportunity, to get the full story on it, and if this has happened, then suggest that going forward the club changes its policy.
No, we never know the full story. Doc would have known he was for the off. Perhaps he was away on hols, hard to contact, letter in the post didn’t arrive? Who knows. Do we know if the other released players got treated differently, including u-21’s, u-18’s etc? I’d say it’s just how football is these days
Has anyone thought Doc might have been away on holiday and therefore it was done via a teams call or phone call? Yes he may not of liked it to happen that way. But if the lads gone away on holiday and isn't available to do it face to face, then how else should it have been done when a deadline needed to be met? As someone else has said it can be read lots of different ways but what doesn't surprise me is that as per the usual "jump to the worst possible explanation" is the default by some.
Yes. Can see it happening on loan, we need a holding midfielder and he’s broken into the first team picture at Anfield. No way we would get him permanently unless we paid a decent fee and put a low buy back clause in. Decent passer on the ball, good close control and a stinger of a shot. He’s maybe not got the quick thinking of Tyler Morton, but certainly from what I’ve seen of him in games he’d be a good squad option for a Championship side initially.
