A fair comment, but I'll reply by simply saying as far as I'm aware (I don't scour RTG as much these days) he never said to me personally it was done, just that he's the man...he's obviously got faith in his info. You can't be right all the time. Especially with how tight knit it is. But I get your point.
Well I’m buzzing. Just hope we can announce it soon. Will he just be bringing his brother do you reckon?
he's always been kld choice, my mates away now for pre season so not talked to him properly since the season finished if it's next week the players will be told to have a bit of spare time free cos he'll want to speak to all the players
We keep hearing KLDs choice but that is what Speakman is for, why have a dog and bark yourself unless you are putting it down.
agree with this but I guess just because it’s KLDs choice doesn’t mean it isn’t KS’s as well. Like a unanimous joined up decision.
Lovely up there, we stay at duck bay every couple of years for a long weekend, walk to balloch, fantastic peaceful and added bonus they don’t really hate the English there either.
Dreyfus can have full faith in Speakman's competency in his role but still want to stick his oar in and get the bloke in he particularly wants. He's grown up with football and football club ownership and knows what he's doing.
Why? Why is every so damn vague? It's really difficult to know whether to feel any manner of excitement for fear of just being disheartened when you realise posters were probably talking cryptically about impending bowel movements rather than an appointment.
Not having a dig at KLD or his knowledge, the ITKs are saying he’s KLDs man and he is also doing interviews. I’m assuming rightly or wrongly, he may not have as much faith as he used to have. Beale cost him a lot of money
I didn't mean to imply that you were mate, just wanted to make the point that it's quite possible everything's rosy between Dreyfus and Speakman even if Kyril has pulled rank to pick the next coach.
Also evens up the power balance between head coach and KS if both were hired by KLD. When KS is pushing for mins to develop the younger players new head coach will find it easier to push back if necessary.
Half a dozen posters have posted nowt of any substance, not even who it is, just intentionally vague. Another is quoting himself. One even gives the whole story and then says he knows nothing in the very next post. Honestly can't decide if it's just Friday night and people have had a few beers so don't realise they're posting nothing at all or if it's for attention. Really frustrating.
Will Still it is then seemingly. I'm excited, we've chased him long enough so i'm expecting big things. By the sounds of it he's bringing a backroom team which I hope puts a lot of people at ease, but it is also a positive sign of how much we want Still at the club. At the end of the day, a lot of his success/failures at SAFC will be down to recruitment, it's absolutely crucial we get it right. I think we all agree that striker and defensive midfielder are our top priorities this summer and Stills tactics make them positions even more important, so I thought i'd have a look myself at possible targets using primarily data. His best results at Reims came with Azor Matusiwa in holding midfield, it's no coincidence Reims form dropped off a cliff after he was sold and not replaced as he is a very good player and was crucial to Stills tactics. This means we need a destructive midfielder. Someone who wins duels both on the ground and aerially, has good interception numbers and good recoveries numbers. There's a few out there who I like such as; Joe Williams - 27 - Bristol City (FREE if he doesn't sign new deal offered) Giovanni Haag - 23 - Rodez AF Loreintz Rosier - 25 - Fortuna Sittard In terms of a forward, in 22/23 Reims had Folarin Balogun on loan from Arsenal who scored 21 league goals, 15 of them while Still was head coach. Looking at his data you can get a sense of what Still wants from his striker; All 21 of Baloguns league goals came from inside the box, had 105 shots from inside the box compared to just 23 from outside 3.83 shots per game 11.9 successful passes per game 33.5 touches per game This data suggests to me that he wants his team to create good chances for the striker and for the striker to not be too involved in the overall build up play, but the striker needs to be clinical when the chances come. Based on this I like the look of; Tobias Lauritsen - 26 - Sparta Rotterdam Igor Matanovic - 21 - Eintract Frankfurt (on loan at Karlsruher) Ryan Hardie - 27 - Plymouth Argyle I know this isn't the summer window thread but I think it fits more on here due to it being Still specific. Get the recruitment right and he'll be a success.
To quote Britain's greatest poet since W.B Yeats... They're twisting my melon man. I get that a certain amount of context needs to be withheld to protect anonymity. Completely. But the vagueness of the state goes so far above and beyond that. You want to believe people but it all just sounds so damn slippery.
It could be anyone, we've been down this road enough times to know there's little point in getting carried away with forum rumours.
