Oh Rory. Scheffler absolutely in control. Phenomenal golfer. Not so good for the LIV crowd @Didley Squat
I don’t really follow golf except for the Masters and the Open. I thought LIV and the PGA had reached some kind of deal. I can understand the appeal of LIV to golfers who just want the security of being paid handsomely for turning up, and only having to play 3 days for their dosh without being competitive, or getting huge wedges of extra cash if they have a good few days. I can also understand why Australia seems to be the main place where it has gained popularity, because the Aussies have no or virtually no big PGA tournaments, so they won’t see the worlds best players very often. Having had a quick look at the LIV website seems like they are also trying to jazz up the game a bit with ‘innovation’/gimmicks, bit like the Hundred in cricket. Doubtless cheerleaders, fireworks and dry ice will be involved. The biggest issue seems to be the Saudis buying yet another sport. It makes the sport inherently unstable, as they don’t contribute to grassroots development and infrastructure. It will be similar in football soon as the top talent is sucked in to the Saudi league and all other national leagues will be ‘feeder’ competitions to create superstars to be stolen/bribed to be show ponys in non competitive exhibition games. But in the case of golf, honestly, who cares?
Yes, the American PGA are a bunch of self centred ****ers who only care for themselves. They have treated us with contempt for too long. I don’t mind a bit of flamboyant style golf to mix it up. The average golf professional is as boring as bat sh1t so a bit of pomp is ok, however, the golf hole may be a tad over the top. Still, better than nothing.
I'm not so fussed about watching golf on the whole, but love to play it. Normally try and follow the majors, especially The Masters. Inherently sceptical of LIV but it all became a bit silly.
Scottie Scheffler arrested at the USPGA this morning and facing charges of assault on a police officer. Seems there was a fatal traffic accident outside the course and he tried to get around the resulting queues.
I heard he liked Ricky Fowler's orange garb so much, he just had to get some for the second days play. Doesn't look quite the same................ Footnote - Condolences to the person who lost their life from that accident.
Well done to DeChambeau. His second US Open. Wish the PGA & LIV would heal the riff and have one tour. PGA only care about the US. LIV a bit too over the top. Give us a balance, please.
Get ****ing in there Bryson ! Lovely, 22/1 and Matsuyama placed too. What a tournament on a truly great course. Great finish topped off with the maggot bogeying 3 of last 4 holes lol. Brilliant
