Good thinking that bring someone in to improve the attacking which was being worked on and sacrifice the defensive part swap it round makes sense.

Maybe we should try talking the club up instead of talking the club down with negative hypotheticals - no one knows what will happen , it could go all tits up - but at least there’s something interesting going on . We’ve seen so much dross over the years .

Acun clearly had no confidence that Rosenior would be capable of improving the attacking play sufficiently. The evidence seems to be with Acun'. I said last summer that I just don't see how Rosenior has done anything to improve our attacking and kept that view throughout the season. Acun had the benefit of not just seeing the evidence on the pitch but also discussing his concerns directly with Rosenior and Rosenior clearly couldn't convince him that he'd manage it.
I also don't get this view that our defense is suddenly going to turn to ****. Some are being far too negative and dramatic, even silly, imo

I think he thought he could manage it just not as quickly as he needed it.

He did say Liam was micro managing players to evaluate their role etc . That might explain why the players may have felt stifled , I put on the forum I felt they were only allowed on certain areas of the pitch to manage a space - they didn’t seem to be allowed much freedom .

Without wanting to reopen the debate about whether Acun was entitled to sack the manager (he was if he wanted, its his choice over whether he wanted to see more attacking football) its not fair to say there was no evidence that Rosenior had done anything to improve our attacking play.

Of the 8 sides in the play offs over 2021/22 and 2022/23, only 2 scored more goals than we did this season. The season before, 2 out of the 4 teams scored more.

Again, I'm not debating whether it was right for Acun to sack Rosenior or not. Its his choice and I'm actually intrigued to see how it works out. But there is plenty of evidence that our attacking play was about par for a play off side.

He's spoken a few times of a multi-club system of ownership. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks around if we get up sooner rather than later.

I think you've got to wonder where it leaves us following the current 5 year plan though if there's no sign of promotion.

I'm certain Fenerbache comes into his end game thinking, but wouldn't be surprised if it's part of a larger empire just like he's done with his media businesses.

Tbf, that's the thing that concerns me, meaning if we don't go up in the next 2 or 3 seasons. What then? The concern is that it is now so difficult to get to the PL. It's great having ambition, especially after the soul busting Afinal years under the Allams , but truth is it's a massive ask.

Just the cycle of ownership though isn't it?

He's not going to be able to just walk away, not without leaving many millions behind though.

To an extent he needs a level of success to get his money out. We're not talking Shels/Sittard investment levels here were he probably can afford to just walk away.

Well LR was only 18 months into his role at the club and he did get us to 7th the outlook for next season was a lot brighter than it is now for promotion, i am sure he would have got us promoted given the chance to finish it, no matter how you look at it if you keep imroving as he has done league position and improved play wether it is boring to some and not others then that is improvement which is exactly what he delivered and got us into a position most did not think we would get to this season and would have been happy with a top 10 finish.

Gone a bit mystic Meg there, we still don't know who the new manager will be or any idea which players are coming in or leaving. Let's at least wait till the start of the season to start predicting our potential for next season.

It’s amazing that some people think the way to win the argument is just to keep repeating the same point over and over again word for word without bringing a single new point to the original argument.

I’d of taken top 10 at the start of the season as solid progress but that was before we got some premier league loans who obviously turned out to be big players for us, on top of making a really good addition in philogene, being in the play off picture at Christmas and having a fantastic January by all accounts. Sticking with LR is as big a risk in my opinion. The faults that hindered us early in the season were as evident as ever on the final day against Plymouth. Too conservative too often. I think expectations rightfully changed because of the signings we made and where we were at Christmas

Why? Carvalho and Tufan played false 9 at times and scored goals. Who cares what their designated 'position' is?
