It does but then I would probably be questioning why those candidates are turning us down. If better candidates are turning us down and we end up with 6th/7th choice then I’d start to wonder if our strategy is the right one to keep us going forwards. All speculation of course, I don’t think it will be him, have a feeling it will be someone the fans will be happy with
Does it not depend on how involved the DOF is in day to day matters? Speakman does appear from his own interviews to be a bit too involved in first team discussions
Is Speakman not leaving though? I still don't understand who is making the decisions and conducting the head coach search.
Yeah, I think you would have to question why the preferred choices turned us down. It could be that the club has identified inappropriate candidates, it could be that they aren't offering the candidates the right things. Could also be things that the club has no control over though. I think you're right though. Pretty certain it's not Rosenior.
I get the feeling that he is staying for some reason. If he was leaving then I think that should have been done immediately after the season ended. Someone coming into that role needs as much time as possible going into the season and of course to appoint the head coach. Why would speakman be involved in the appointment if he was leaving, wouldn’t make a lot of sense imo.
I'd have thought that it would be important for whoever takes the job to be happy with the working conditions. You'd hope that would be made clear to them before they took the job.
Agree with all that. Tell you what I’m ready for an announcement now haha impatience in me is draining. Fridays are usually a good day for an announcement
But if our DOF is more involved in the day to day side than a "normal" DOF would that potentially put off some very good coaches?
Yeah exactly. Everyone who gets information suggested he was leaving so what has happened? I'm concerned if he is staying and I'm concerned if he is going but is involved in this summers decision making.
I’m of the opinion that he should have gone after what’s happened this season but the more time passes after the seasons finished then I’d rather he just stayed. Don’t want big upheaval say in the middle of June early July and hurting our prep for next season
How does he show no conviction with decision making, other than pure speculation we have no idea who he has interviewed or wants for the job
Yep it's too late now. Other clubs are already signing players, we haven't hired a head coach yet so definitely don't have time to recruit a DoF as well. Disappointed, thought it was a chance to clear the slate and freshen the club up in all facets.
The people on here and over the road who get info have and if they didn't say he was definitely going they certainly hinted at it. Whether you trust the ITKs thats your prerogative.
I'm thinking the French and German Leagues end Saturday. The club may already have their man, but can't/don't want to announce him until after the end of their season. I'm hoping for an announcement early next week. That would still be classed as fairly imminent.
Wanted to sack Mowbray last summer, didn't and it lead to an uncomfortable relationship between them which played out in the media and lead to an inevitable sacking. Doesn't use data as much as previously which served us very well. No conviction to continue the transfer strategy of the 2022 Summer window which was a superb window for a newly promoted club. No club has spent more on transfer fees in the first 2 seasons after being promoted from league one (apart from Norwich and Southampton who completed double promotions) and we don't exactly have that much to show for it, we are probably going to bring in 8+ players again this summer. His work in the academy is superb and I actually quite like him, just think his contribution to first team matters can be improved upon.
