    WTF?

""The way that it works at Sunderland is that you can seemingly only take one member of staff with you.
    T
hat would be a huge problem for me because then you have the rest of the staff that were there before. Those people are close to those up top, so they will be reporting back to the people up top."

So Carlton, what you're saying is that the football staff, at a football club, should keep what they're doing a big secret and not report to the people who actually own and run the club ...

... seriously mate, just keep your nose out and let the club get on with things.

Oh and, did you say 'seemingly' which means you're just reading Sunderland chat forums for your info <laugh>

Agreed. It makes you wonder just how Speakman blagged a role as one.after his acquisitions this past 18 months...One look at, say Burstow, most supporters would would have told you he was rank.

It does seem an odd thing to say. Surely if an organisation is running well, there is open communication, where appropriate, between people in all roles or at all levels?

He's not the first ex Pro to say something similar. What I can't work out is if they're all responding to the same piece of unfounded gossip, or if they basing it on factual evidence. My gut feeling is they've got the wrong end of the stick.

Makes you wonder why Chelsea don't want to sell him.

Would they? I'd have probably tried to give him a bit longer than first impressions, personally.

All of this stuff makes no sense unless KLD is deliberately trying avoid the PL and the huge sum of money that involves. It's like they're saying there's some kind of hidden agenda to stay in the Championship losing his own money.

Burstow and Amad have very similar backgrounds although Burstow is more like the kind of striker we needed ...

... iirc the first impressions of Amad were distinctly unfavourable from many supporters.

It's easy now to claim he'd be a very valuable player for us.

“Frontunners with the bookmakers Will Still and Rene Maric have both been very strong contenders in the past, but are not thought to have been strong contenders this time around. As two names on Sunderland's long-term radar you couldn't rule them out at this point but so far it strongly appears that the club's focus has been elsewhere.”

    Oh, ok <ok>.
But not if you've worked full time in football for the last 20 years?

Harry kane had crap loan spells and turned out okay. Its part of the journey. He maybe came to us too soon in his development but I wouldn't dismiss him the way some on here are

    Poor comparison.

Kane always looked a goal threat, scored a few at Leyton Orient and Millwall. Burstow was tragic in every game played here.

Half decent scoring record for their u23s, a few assists. There was a lad I watched a few times on loan in non-league (Step 4) a season or so ago. He looked terrible. Played regularly in the Football League this season just gone (scoring record could be better mind). A poor spell with us doesn't mean Burstow is no good.
