https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/ju...cision-step-down-liverpool-manager-end-season This came after the league cup semi buy before two crucial league games including arsenal There was no natural break after those games really. You could argue either way on this but it will come out eventually
I think klopp would prefer Sundays game went by and no one made a fuss or sang anything to him. He’s a humble guy and he makes it all about the team rather than him so I personally don’t think that’s the case but we’ll never know
I'll bet someone reveals it in thr next week or so. Some journo might ask it of someone. I am presuming it was a secret based on what the players said but obviously the coaches knew and they are the most probable source of leak. There's a case either way on this but taking everything on face value from klopp amd the clubs statements then I'd have assumed the only time available would be an international break in March to make this announcement.
You're right in that he is humble and he does want the focus to be on the team but we do have a precedent - what he did at Dortmund. Same humble man, same selfless ideas. While I think he announced his leaving too soon, for whatever reason, having given it a bit more thought after reading about his departure from Dortmund, I think he may have done it for similar reasons - to give the club chance to replace him and to not walk quietly away. Don't forget, this could be his last managerial job. For someone so obsessed with football, who also understands how the fans think and feel, he wouldn't want to spoil their experience or deny them an opportunity to say goodbye.
Ripping a plaster off is always better than slowly pulling it off. We've had months to be annoyed by the fact instead of days.
How do you sign someone who's already bound by a contract? News items saying 'former assistant coach to Jurgen Klopp...' For goodness sake wait a few more days until he actually is the former assistant coach.
The thing is he’s said fsg have known since November so they kept it quiet for a few months. I think when he announced at Dortmund was closer to end of season and maybe wanted to give them time to get a replacement? Where as here had already given fsg 3/4 months to sort that out? Who knows at the end of the day. All just speculation. Ifs and buts. Maybe we would have tailed off even more if he didn’t say anything missed CL football and left on a sour season.
Klopp announced he was leaving in the middle of April. Dortmund had been dreadful all that season and there were 6 games left with Dortmund 10th at the time.
Yeah I don’t see how it’s that comparable as the scenarios were so different. I think klopp said it then at Dortmund to give them a boost (seems to work as they improved and finished in Europe I believe?). We on the other hand we’re already doing well so didn’t need a boost so can only think was different scenarios that forced it
Did it though? We were already doing well at that point. You could argue that it did have a detrimental effect, but it took a while to kick in.
We were doing well yes, but we didn't drop off at all so they're was certainly no negative effect, the players looked more energised. I think it definitely gave a boost and many people at the time claimed as much too
Latest rumours out there is that the klopp event is fire saling tickets as nobody is interested. I think that pretty scurrilous type of stuff.
