Sunderland should be looking to beat Millwall to the signing of Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga.

weird. That seems to be an entire piece about a guys opinion that Sunderland should sign somebody. Click bait in the purest.

would be a good signing mind

Yeah bizarre article that, using our name to draw clicks I presume.

Pretty sure he's about to join Millwall permanently anyway

Not gonna lie, I'm hoping it's Svensson who's going to be our new boss.

Wonder if he is, would there be any Mainz players we could go after??

Noticed there's a few on frees this summer, Barriero is probably unattainable but what about others?

They'd know his style of play and should fit in nicely.

Could all be worthless when we appoint someone else <laugh>

What's the feeling about Styles? We have the option to sign him, but I don't see where he fits or what he brings to the team. For the rumoured fee of £2million it seems a lot for someone that doesn't improve us

I think he looks decent. Unfortunately, we haven't seen a lot of him in the position that he'd probably be most effective for us in. There are possibly better options out there though.

No idea what his best position is, clearly a player in there given he’s a regular in a good Hungary side but £2m seems steep, I couldn’t be more on the fence with this one

I feel sorry for the lad in some ways. He's not been given the chance to play in a settled role. CDM seemed to be his best position when he came, but he's somehow found himself played almost as a left back most of the time, and he hasn't looked comfortable.
I think he's a victim of tactical analysis and I don't think he's had the chance to show his best.

He'll be one of those players we don't sign who goes on to be brilliant for someone else.

Looks no more than a squad filler (albeit on a small sample size). He's also played in our worst run of games for the last 2 or 3 years, so gets tarnished as a result of that.
Part of me thinks the lad who kept Jude Bellingham quiet when Hungary beat England 4-0 is worth signing, but I haven't seen anything to suggest he's what we need. Had Dodds maybe played him in his preferred role then I might hold a different opinion, but the current coaching staff seem convinced he's a left back/left wing back and on that basis I'd be sending him back to Barnsley with my best wishes.

It's my understanding we have an option to sign him, but no idea when the option expires. I think there's a good player in there, still relatively young,I've seen him as a Corey replacement.

Arguably already been brilliant for Millwall and Barnsley at this level.

It's a shame the next manager won't get a chance to run the rule over Styles.

What's people's thoughts on Tommy Conway? He's looked lively when I've seen him. Is he more of a 10?

True. I never paid much attention to him when he was at Millwall but he's very popular with their fans.

I like him, good numbers considering he’s playing in an average side (I know they finished higher than us before that gets thrown about), 6ft seems a proper 9 to me would depend on the fee they’re wanting

Barnsley fans might laugh, but sure given he's in the last year of contract you could do a deal for about 2-4 million. Not that I'm saying we should. And the 4 million would be finely put together with add ons.

Henderson's name just been mentioned OTR, but very vague.

    Thread very quickly deleted.

No chance I would pay £2m for Styles, he would be a good signing and offer us some versatility but we could get something similar elsewhere for half that price, if Barnsley are willing to field offers I'd go in at under a million and be prepared to go to £1.25m or £1.35m maximum.
