Like a nice cold pint of lager it's refreshing to see a decision go against Fergie

I find it funny that they scored a very lucky goal against us, and equally we got a lucky pen.

They still had 25-30 minutes to get another goal and numerous chances as well, which our defence stood up to amazingly.

But instead of giving us some credit for battling on with 10 men after the ref decided to even things up for the pen, everyone decides to go on about the pen and not their lucky goal.

platic mancs ****ing deal with it, you didn't have your usual 12 men on the pitch and sin of all sins the opposition are given a pen which I'm sure is in breach of an FA rule which bacon face will contest!!!!

All I can say is this decision will be forgotton the next time United get a decision like this. And then all the ABUs will hark on about how United paid off the ref and own the FA.

Wouldn't go that far - SAF does have a history of being pretty ungracious (to put it mildly) when the pressure is on or he thinks it'll help the team. Most of the time he's gracious in defeat it's cos it doesn't really matter (like vs Barca) or cos he has no other option (like against City).

But that said, I don't know why everyone takes his comments so personally. Every comment he makes is designed to motivate our players, drive us on and build the siege mentality. Of course he's biased - Utd gain nothing from him being fair.

Agreed. Also people should see how animated posters on this forum get hours after a game and then consider how difficult it would be to bite your tongue when doing an interview directly after a game.

Forget posters on a forum - they should look at Kevin Keegan, Arsene Wenger and other managers who have completely lost it after the game, and in doing so caused their team's form to drop off a cliff. The real trick is not just to bite your tongue, but to make sure that what you say after a bad result (or even a good one) is going to help your team bounce back and play better in the future.

A post from another forum sums everything up for me:

"So nice to have a team to be proud of for the first time in years. Must be the first time since Bobby was here that we've gone to Old Trafford and I genuinely thought "we've got a damn good chance of getting something today", and by god did we deserve it.

Aye, the penalty decision was wrong, but the was the only thing that went our way from the officials. Rooney was a lucky boy, even if he didn't connect with Colo, the backlift he put into his 'attempt' to win the ball was wreckless and could have caused serious injury. His petulance again showed a total disregard for a fellow professional's safety, as it did in Montenegro. It's a sad day when Ben Arfa is booked for being upset about an assault on his mate, yet Rooney gets away with a 'forwards challenge' comment.

Similarly, it was a poor decision from the lino, but how much s*** luck have we had at Old Trafford over the years? It never gets mentioned because 'United' are the media darlings. Ole Gunnar Soljskaer's assault on Rob Lee in 1998, Barthez' assault on Shearer in 2004.

Ferdinand's and his fellow player's reaction to then gang up on the linesman to try to intimidate him into his changing his mind. So much for the 'respect' campaign. They showed exactly what they are: sore losers."

That just about sums it up for me, we deserved our point, end of story.

Isn't it only the captain that has the right to ask a question? Seems some teams have more captains than others? <whistle>

i think the worst thing fergie said was about the linesman not getting anothr game - it's the mans job and fergie is wrong to implicate that those making bad decisions against united are in danger of losing their jobs

It wasn't just a bad decision, it was a complete and utter cock up of the highest degree. Never a penalty in a million years. Not saying he should lose his job, but the guy should be retrained, fined, whatever but must be dealt with in some shape or manner.

what about fining/suspending players who make mistakes on the pitch - a weeks wages for missing an open goal for a start - it's never the players fault is it

If you screw up in a major way in your job, you are taken to task by your employers and maybe even punished (depending on your job). This was a complete disaster by the assistant ref. You can understand the anger shown by managers like SAF and yet when they react, they are the ones that end up being punished!!! What's that about?

will fergie punish rooney for risking a red card and a suspension for kicking another player - he will probably say he he looked at it again and there is nothing to it - he is a hypocrite when commenting on players and officials

The Rooney incident has been blown out of all proportion by Newcastle fans and you know it. The Newcastle player did not react against Wayne as he was clearly trying to get the ball. Come back with a valid point.
