From what I heard, it wasn’t just one or two players speaking for themselves but a few speaking on behalf of quite a lot of the squad about their concerns.
Obviously, but players do have situations where they have to make their own decisions. Someone like Philo would have a licence to play freely in some situations. Too often, Philo would hold the ball in a 1/1 when he clearly had the beating of the defender. And you know what, that happened more later in the season. Prior to his injury, he was more likely to take him on. That’s what confidence does.
U21s international football is a literal joke Dont compare jaden vs some minnows like luxemburg and azerbijan u21s to the championship Laughable
I'm sure any players who shared concerns with senior management were listen too. If it was related to concerns the owner/Tan already had it might have added more fuel to the fire, especially if it was regarding the style of play. All conjecture but say one of the players was Giles and he's saying, "look at my stats from the last two years... I think the style of play is holding me back" then you can see a narrative appearing where some of the players perhaps felt limited by the system. I used Giles as an example as most people would agree he hasn't lived up to expectation while on loan yet Acun seems very keen on signing him on a permanent deal. Pandur was a club signing, Rosenior never play him (rightfully IMO, can't throw a keeper in with so much at stake) BUT we are right to questions why not after some costly Allsop errors. I don't think dropping Allsop would have been worth the risk however if you're spent 1.5 million on a keeper in January and your club fall short by a few points of the top 6, points perhaps another keeper could have clawed back, you would ask the question wouldn't you? Maybe not as a fan but as someone paying the bills? Yes? Now, if(when) Walter is announced, he isn't quite a full reset from Rosenior. He wants possession and the keeper and cbs are vital to that (Greaves looks to suit this perfectly). Reviews of Walter suggest a bit more chaos/chance taking in the final third, with an odd long ball thrown in too. I believe it was wrong to sack Rosenior but I can see how we are where we are. The football was controlled and methodical, more risk/entertainment was promised (between Rosey and Acun) probably with Rosenior saying 'we've got a good base, flair in the final 3rd should do it', we add the flair and then outside of some really good games, we actually got worse. By worse I don't mean we were awful, we just failed to maintain the standards and progress. Acun only really attending the home games won't have helped, he saw some of the worst games first hand and could obviously feel the mood around the stadium. Acun/Tan also seem to have an ability to sign good exciting players (Rosenior definitely was a factor in this previously) but they're likely confident they can continue doing so post-Rosenior. Acun is a football fan, which is actually one of his downsides, he will want to play FM a little and he'll find it hard to turn down exciting players. We're likely going to have players across the park that are better at attacking than they are at defending (all our midfielders are 10s). This is going to be our weakness while Acun is in charge as it'll take a lot for him to change. All flair players in a disciplined Rosenior team wasn't going to always work. Perhaps a more risk aligned manager will get more out of Acun signings. Not a fan of Rosenior being sacked or Acun's FM signings but one of them isn't going anywhere (for the time being) so I hope Walters balance of possession and risk will make it all work.
I think the focus on attacking players was equally (maybe more so) Rosies decision, in fact, when Acun was recently asked about who he would most like to sign he said Fred and Muslera.
There was a clip in one of those behind the scenes videos the club does were Acun takes Pandur to aside briefly to comfort him. Think it was the Ipswich game and I thought it was odd
Id love to be a fly on the wall for recruitment meetings. I’m still adamant they should hire a head of football operations and it be an experienced football head
I honestly think for the most part it will be relatively straight forward. What do you think you need to be successful? okay here's what we think we can get, do you think that will work? The other side that the manager doesn't get much inclusion on will be the developmental players.
It’s more that we seem to bringing in creative midfielders in abundance and only address other areas if needed. Small sample size so hard to tell if it’s just bad luck
Maybe - but listening to some of Manure's old guard they think Ten Hag has sidelined McClaren because a team coached by McClaren would not look like Manure are at the moment.
Twine left as a result of strengthening both his preferred positions. No brainer to go where he's more likely to play. That was before any reports of discontent.
