The problem is , if you challenge Hawtrey on his WUM’ing you get grassed up. Perhaps we might all contribute to financing a top 6 finish by purchasing a punnet of over priced chips at the Valley next season.
Two fans I know saw £1 bottles and cans of lager being poured by staff into plastic glasses last season …which were then sold for £7 a pint.
Spoken like a true Scotsman. But I would never buy any food or drink in the Stadium as it is usually sub standard and overpriced. I would prefer to give my money to the local businesses.
It’s an utter con, but nobody is forced to buy it. If you choose to spend £7 on something that actually costs less than £1, you are a moron, not a fan contributing to promotion. It’s all part of Hawtrey & the Anoraks wider narrative that “negative fans” (ie those who don’t agree with him ) are the real problem at CAFC, even though the last time Hawtrey went to an away game Carry On Up The Khazi was top of the charts in UK cinemas. Breaking News: SE7 Partners make clear that promotion next season is dependant on Charles Hawtrey buying a punnet of chips at every home game.
You should contact CAFC, and offer them a match day supply of your famous homebrew “Jock’s Old Hogwash” … at a 600% mark up of course
Ridiculous gets better every day. She wants fans to get a lounge pass once a season, ffs fans are not wanting to pay £25 let alone £100 plus. On top of that fans should commit each game to inedible food and some sort of drink, another £12 wasted.
It’s good to know you read other people’s posts. I brought Hawtrey’s weak kneed nerdism to the attention of our five other members at the weekend. His comment is not only WUM’ing for attention it shows just how out of touch the middle class bean counter is with our fanbase - many fans probably cannot afford a poxy lounge pass (whatever that is …).
I'd do away with all that crap. Lounges, boxes, hospitality. In it's place I'd make sure cheap and decent grub was on sale - pies & pints - and that the bogs were looked after properly. In an ideal World I'd rip out the seats and go back to terraces too. Go to the game and enjoy the football. I'm still not decided on an ST purchase yet, but I certainly won't be ripped off by crap food at ridiculous prices.
The Valley Cafe or the burger stand opposite the club shop is sufficient for lining the stomach of the fans, better grub at a fraction of the price in the ground. Safe standing is coming back gradually, although long overdue. The boxes and other like areas have been empty for the past ten years plus, too expensive and not appealing to the working class punter in SE7.
I can't argue with the comments on decent affordable food and terraces. The bogs in the East Stand are fine. Unfortunately in this day and age Lounges, hospitality etc are a money spinner, I don't have a problem with it. Saying that I would not pay the money they are asking. Football for me, since I first started going when I was seven is all about the camaraderie and the collective love of watching your team play.
Exactly, it’s a money spinner for the owners, with a huge mark up. From what I witnessed last season, the quality of both food & beer is of poor quality, and massively over priced, but nobody is forced to pay it. But to link - as Hawtrey has - a promotion challenge with a willingness to being ripped off by purchasing in house catering, is WUM’ing & nerdism of the highest order
Not everyone has to pay for the food and drink in the boxes. BTW what happened to your prawn avatar and PSP moniker ?
