What's the extra cost of a 50k stadium over 25k......especially if you get a cinecentre and shopping mall with the big one.......and where is there in the region a major venue?
There's a cinema and out if town shopping complex right by their existing ground. There are no big venues in the area. Chester is the next sizable venue north, crewe to the south east. Across the north Wales coast Parc Eirias, but while it's a decent size sports complex, no big stands. Bangor-on-Dee racecourse is only a few miles away.
It’s bad enough sitting in a more than half empty CCS, imagine sitting in a quarter full 50,000 capacity stadium.
Be like being back at the Millennium Stadium when Wales were woeful and only bringing in small crowds!!
Thought I’d give Doncaster v Crewe a look. A scrappy match with pure endeavour and little quality but enthralling. Crewe have got the tie back to all square.
I know it’s not exactly an accurate comparison but we went down in 2019 with 34 points, which is more than each of the 3 relegated clubs this season can reach.
Big game coming up for Tan - and it's not in Cardiff................ https://getfootballnewsbene.com/man...to-face-kortrijk-for-place-in-the-top-flight/
Their playoff structure is more than a little complicated. It would help Tan, and us, if Kortrijk were in their top league.
Perhaps Furter can fill in the gaps but I think the Belgian relegation/promotion system is like the Bundesliga and involves playoffs between those at the bottom of their first division and those at the top of their second tier. A bit like a last chance saloon for the relegation spot clubs and an extra hurdle for those fighting to go up. Wouldn't like that over here - if you finish in the relegation or promotion spots you should automatically go down or up accordingly.
Belgium is, indeed, like the Bundesliga but differs slightly in identifying the bottom 3. The bottom 2 go down and the top 2 go up. But 3rd from bottom plays a double header with 3rd in Bundesliga 2. After this weekend Kiel and St Pauli go up automatically.....Fortuna Dusseldorf will dog it out with third from bottom. Most likely Union Berlin. But it is usually a bit of an uneven fight.......the gap is big. St Pauli are a bouncy team always. Kiel are very new to these heights I think......ground capacity 15k!!!
So Wolves have put forward a motion to bin VAR. It needs 2/3rds of PL clubs to vote for it on June 6. Hope it passes and consigns it to Room 101.
Like many things, great in theory, poorly executed. It was introduced to overturn 'obvious errors'. Like Chelsea's offside goal against us. A blatant miss by the officials. If it takes 5 reruns and fuzzy lines, not obvious, ref's decision stands.
Sadly I can't see them getting the support they need - fair play to them for trying though.. Several of the 'big' clubs have benefitted from bizarre VAR decisions on numerous occasions so I can't see them backing it... all they think about is the money, and each league place they could slip if more decisions went against them would cost them.... It's a shame but football in this country is very much like large parts of society nowadays - pretty much broken beyond repair and in need for a massive 're-set' which will never happen because a handful of folks have the largest vested (i.e. financial) interest and biggest say regardless of whether their gains run counter to the benefit of the majority/society at large.
Can't see it getting the 14 votes needed to be dropped. The traditional "Big 6" will want it kept, and there must be at least one other club with aspirations to join them (Villa/West Ham) that'll see it off.
Well said. I could not agree more. Additional: I don't think it's just this country either. World football has been corrupt for decades.
