I went to watch Orlando City a few years ago now, the atmospheric was actually very good, there was constant singing, but, like what you’re describing, there was a leader who was organising the chants & songs. The fact you can drink beer in your seat helps too.
The iron lion firm ( I think that's what they are called ) do a really good job of drumming up support, pre match, during the game and pre match. But TBF to the yanks, they do do sports very well.... Tailgating is a great example
