According to my old man nobody could beat Gene Krupa.

 

They are all very talented, but - the drummer and bass player are right on it, all very good.

 

He was a great drummer too but my personal choice has always been Buddy.

 

My favourite, as a time keeper for the band, was Al Jackson.

Ginger Baker always rated Krupa.

 

Jim Capaldi for me, in that vein.

 

For the sort of music I like, Stax, Atlantic Al Jackson was the best, other musicians called him the metronome. There were some good session drummers for Stax and Motown.
