Great shot stopper but isn’t always dominant and will never be comfortable with the ball at his feet.

I'm not an actual scout mate, I understand how my incredible depth of football knowledge might have made you think that though. <laugh>

I doubt very much anyone thinks he’s anywhere near as good as Stewart or that a club with parachute payments or huge resources see Shankland as the answer. Stewart had shown just how good he was and would be playing premier league football but for his injury. Southampton took a big gamble paying 8m but the “ win” I’d it came off was a 20m striker. There’s no comparison with Shankland.

8m with add ons probably isn’t miles away. I’d prefer 15m but 8-10 is still a big fee for a keeper.

I’m dead nervous about Rigg going but the Echo (I know) seem pretty confident he’s agreed a pro deal with us and will sign as soon as he’s 17.

I know they’re not totally reliable but that’s usually because they know nothing. So it’s quite a specific position for them to take.

My nephew know Riggs dad well and last I heard was that the family were very happy and that he would be signing his contract when he turned 17. Obviously things can change quickly bit that was the last I heard and that was about 6 to 8 weeks ago

An extra season of getting game time is probably the best thing for Rigg. I think he’ll sign a pro contract, play quite regularly and assess offers next season. That’s fair enough and probably best for all concerned.

21 league appearances as a 16 year old, I'd say we have a very good chance of him signing a pro deal with us this summer, he wouldn't have got that amount of time on the pitch anywhere else in the Championship organically either, we have shoehorned him in the side a bit, which is a good strategy to get him to sign and continue his fast track development.

The only downside in my opinion, and they're worth it for the upside, is that he is likely going to immediately be one of our higher earners (subtracts from our budget) and he will almost certainly get a buy-out inserted that could see him leave after a season or two (should he keep progressing). Again all worth the upside.

I’m pleased, for him as well as it’s the best environment for him cos the fans are quite nurturing about Rigg (I wish they were as much with jobe as well mind)

You're not wrong, but it's because Riggler is one of us.

Even if he is, he’ll be away the season after. Serious talent. I know he’s only 16 but should’ve featured a lot more imo. He’s our best prospect - loads better than Jobe who’s played constantly.

Playing Jobe every single game is embarrassing from us. Hes a kid and shouldnt be relied on the way we have with him. It doesnt seem right, and it makes me think theres something in his contract that says he has to play every game when fit.
Birmingham used him sparingly last season, and now hes one of the first names on our team sheet

Jobe was 17 when the season started. Hes played north of 40 games in his first full senior season.

Remember Dan Neil and Callum Doyle in League One? They had burnout. Jobe understandably had the same this season. There'll be loads eating their words in five years time when hes an established quality player.

think he’s played plenty as a 16 year old. The good news is if he’s here next year his transfer fee should be much higher when he does leave

Rigg is staying with us I am sure. How long is really up to how fast he keeps progressing. I would expect him to be here for at least a couple of years personally, possibly more. I am now thinking Neil wont have his head turned either.

after who? What are you talking about?

my point was purely that if / when he signs a pro deal we will be able to negotiate a proper fee for him rather than be forced to accept a few million
