I think in one respect the Ipswich game partly did for Liam. Acun saw how the atmosphere could be, and wants to see more of it.

See this “one of the strongest squads” is put to bed somewhat in the thread on Twitter. Hamburg had finished 4th three seasons in a row before he joined. In his first season he got them third behind Schalke and Werder Bremen and they then lost to Hertha Berlin in the relegation/promotion playoff. The next season they finished third again, one point (!) off both 1st and 2nd and then lost to Stuttgart in the playoff. He was then sacked when 3rd again 2 points off 2nd and 5 off 1st - since when, Hamburg have gone backwards and are well out of it.

Why did they sack him if he was doing so well?

because the owners thought the job he was doing was not good enough and decided to sack him so they did not put the club in a more dangerous position for achieving promotion as they put it,they would not have sacked a manager who was being successful in improving the team never happens .

He lost two games in a row 4-3 pretty much.

I suspect it was also to do with their rivals St Pauli being 2nd and both the 4-3s being at home (the last one they lost in the 98th minute when down to 10 men by the way)

That worked well then, they’re 4th now 5 points off 3rd with a game left. 5th have a game in hand over them and better goal difference so they are going to finish 4th or 5th out of the promotion playoffs either way.

Just shows sacking someone who is doing a pretty good job does not always mean it will get better.

I'm a big fan of all of that stuff. When I go to watch DIF here in Sweden I love all the pre-match chanting, flag displays and flares. However, none of it is organic its all manufactured and choreographed by the Ultras.

From your video you can see the Capos directing the chanting and working the crowd from their special platforms (for the whole match) and next to them the drummers beating out the timing.

I suspect if the club erected platforms in front of the crowd and installed capos and drums there'd be an up roar that this wasn't traditional to the English game.

FWIW I'd try it. It could go brilliantly with Walts Kamikaze-ball approach.

He just needs to arrange for every home game to be a massive promotion run-in decider against a top side then.

Or how about exciting, attacking, free flowing, high temp, positive football, when we get that it's reflected in the atmosphere.

We should all be big enough to admit, that we just don't have the best fan base when it comes to atmosphere full stop,no matter what the football

Another thing that supposedly happened under Rosenior that I rarely saw, and don't get why it's occasionally trotted out!
It happened on rare occasions, but for the vast majority of the time, I wouldn't have said we had an aggressive press high up the pitch at all. Often the opposite.
Yes, we did it in the first half away at Southampton, and most of us were more than a bit gob-smacked by how we played that day (or at least for the first half). There were also occasional examples, like when Seri nicked the ball and played in Tufan v Ipswich. But I can't see how anyone can claim that our style was anything like an 'aggresive press high up the pitch'.
Rosenior spoke v early on about how his style would be high press, pace, energy, excitement, etc, which is no doubt part of what sold it to Acun in the first place, but it never really materialised in practice.
I suspect if this guy does join us, we will see what an aggressive press high up the pitch really is.
    Just me?

Agree. But as others have said in the past, the rugby clubs do ok, so it should be doable. As said repeatedly, it doesn't help and is a crying shame that we still don't have a proper anthem or two of our own; something(s) that everyone would be proud to join in with. Wise men isn't really ours and is a bit marmite. 120 years and counting! Surely something could be done. Other clubs have adopted songs even in more recent times and made them their own, how come it just doesn't happen for us?

Their playoffs are much more difficult to achieve promotion though

Second paragraph I absolutely agree with and I've been insinuating that with reference to the Blackburn and Rotherham home atmospheres. If this is the case though Acun isn't going to solve it by changing manager.
