Spent money on transfers, tried to do something a bit different than the norm, turned down big offers for lots of our players As i said we didn't get things right, doesnt mean we didnt show ambiition Youll view ambition as signing players youve heard of i bet
Exactly and now Ipswich are going to have the same financial advantages over us, Luton too. So please can somebody tell me why you think promotion is too soon and we need to stick to the plan? Its not rocket science is it
Spent more money than any team within 2 years of promotion from League One from all records I can find, apart from 2 who were instantly promoted to the PL (Norwich and Southampton). We also have a bigger spend and wage bill than Ipswich who I keep seeing being labelled as more ambitious than us. Our recruitment has been poor, but the money has been spent.
Yeah i suppose you could say different, starting a season with no recognised strikers and an average squad age of about 22 years old , and then finishing it playing a 4-6-0 formation because all out strikers are League 1 standard at best
None of us have said that tonight, so whats that got to do with ambition Speakman came out with pretty much the same as kompany has come out with last season, we just got things horribly wrong
Its lack of ambition scurrying around the bargain basement which is exactly what weve done. Trying to find a cheap gem to sell on and make a profit
Thats not got anything to do with ambition tho, its got to do with poor recruitment Burnley - the team you are praising for ambition - pretty much have the same average age as us
I beg to differ, but if you say so then fair enough. Their a tiny club compared to us, as are Luton but we're miles behind them on and off the pitch
Hardly bargain basement, weve spent more money than ispwich who got promoted. Nothing wrong with looking for hidden gems - thats what we are trying to do, find hidden gems that can improve us. Like i have said several times, it didnt work but its not down to a lack of ambition, its down to poor recruitment
So what is ambition for you then? I hear loads talk about a lack of ambition, but then cant explain what they mean by that
Doing something similar to Ipswich, bringing Keiffer Moore in in Jan to see them over the finishing line and signing recognised players like Broadhead and not young kids from France and B teams from bigger clubs
Every club looks for hidden gems, but they dont make it their be all and end all they also sign experienced players
Broadhead was hardly a recongnised player when they joined them As i said our recruitment has been poor but doesnt mean its a lack of ambition Effectively you mean Ipswich are only more ambitious than us because they signed Moore - a player we did try and sign. We have a wage structure in place, which we should have as you can see the amount of teams in trouble with FFP. Add - Ipwich got promoted because of how good their manager has been, not because they were any more ambitious than us We def need to get the balance right in our squad but just signing 'recognised' players doesnt necessarily bring you success or show ambition, we did that in L1 and struggled to get out of it Anyway no point going back n forward as ill not agree with you n doesnt matter what i say you've made your mind up as well
