obviously would love nothing more than a comfortable City win, with Leeds' Summerville & Rutter doing their best Dyer - Bowyer impressions many years later....

However to be realistic, although Leeds are on a poor run of form, not sure we're actually playing much better. I can't see anything past a cagey 1-1 or 2-2 draw.
Which clearly doesn't give us much hope for the 2nd leg, as I'd expect how poor we've been on the road this season mixed with Leeds' home form is a recipe for our downfall. Short of a 2/3-0 win at home I think that's season over..... <sorry>
Happy to be proven wrong in 44 odd hours time

Reading both threads, there seems to be near-unanimity that neither team can expect to get through to the final.

You can't accuse either set of fans of being too over confident that's for certain.

We are surprised to be in the play offs after a miserable run of results last year & Leeds looked to be certain for automatic & choked .

Farke took us up twice but never through the play offs & Wagner hasn't got us playing as well as Farke did but won the play offs with Huddersfield.

Norwich are unbeaten at home in 2024 but one of the worst away records.

The bookies have Leeds as firm favourites but that was the case against QPR & all the other sides that surprised you in the last 4 or 5 games.

Zero animosity towards Leeds or your manager, always a great bunch on your board over the years it's just a pity one of us has to lose .

Gunn is class , McLean, Rowe , Sara , Sainz & Sargent are all very decent but the rest of the team are very average.

Sara being our main threat & Sargent has a habit of scoring even when he plays badly .

Yesterday Crewe went into the second leg away at Darlington 2-0 down & ended up scoring 2 & winning on penalties completely ruining my accumulator <laugh>

Those poor Darlington fans must have thought the job was already done & dusted .

Obviously home advantage is usually better for the second leg but with a very cagey nervous crowd not necessarily.

    Morning guys. Leeds fan here.

Always had a soft spot for Norwich. I was an impressionable teenager when Norwich finished 3rd in the league. I remember Jeremy Goss smashing a volley in off the bar at Elland Road in a 4-1 shock victory for you lot and the entire ground just stood and applauded the goal. That doesn't happen too often at our place. I watched that same team beat Bayern Munich the next season in the UEFA Cup with Goss again scoring a belter. Kids at school would practice volleys imitating John Motson by shouting "GOSS" as they struck the ball.

Anyway, on to the play off tie. You lot don't sound too confident but if there's a time to play us this season it's now. We've hit a real dip in form. We've been awful for the last month or so.....and when I say awful I mean absolutely shockingly, confusingly ****ing dreadful. I'm not even confident we'll score a goal nevermind win a game.

Reading comments on here, it seems this will be the ****test play off semi played out by the worst teams in the division.

Just to add a bit of confidence to you lot. We've had 5 attempts at play offs and failed 5 times. That's a joint record as the worst play off club. We've also just gained the most points by a team in the Championship and not gone up automatically.

    We're cursed I tell ya.

At least we have an interest in three of the four teams involved. Probably means Baggies will do it.

Sounds like some 6D chess level mind games you're playing there <laugh>

I watched most of Leeds last games expecting then to overtake our noisy neighbours but they just collapsed like a Primark lawn chair on reduced .

The 4-0 gaping at QPR was astonishing.

Norwich only needed a win in their last few games & drew twice & lost to Birmingham leaving the door open for Hull or Coventry, who also choked Coventry probably getting caught up in the FA Cup.

A more determined 7th placed side would have overtaken us .

Saints could have finished 2nd but went 4 games without winning & Baggies tried their best to get overtaken.

For me the team that handles pressure the best & or gets a big slice of luck will go up.

Jeremy Goss is a God around these parts he did one of his trademark toe punt volleys against Liverpool too on the last game of their old Kop in a 0-1 defeat.

    Cantona wasn't bad either :emoticon-0105-wink:

You must be sick of sharing that record. Time to take charge and own it outright with 6 playoff failures.

On "News Now" two stories. Norwich suffer triple blow, and Norwich three available. Take your pick.

Barnes, Hernandez, Gibbs versus Fassnacht, Rowe and Duffey.
    Leeds story versus Norwich story.

Leeds fan here. Maybe best to just let Southampton and wba go to play off final as our two lots are clearly useless. Btw don’t get too excited at Bamford missing. He’s hopeless. Can’t kick with either foot and can’t head the ball either

Baggies manager Corberan was Bielsas assistant at Leeds. That's our link to West Brom. Many, including myself, wanted Corberan at Leeds this season.

He always came across as a good lad.

If we fail to go up then I want you lads to do it.

    So Southampton it is then.

It's refreshing having 2 sets of fans both downplaying their own chances of winning instead of the usual macho bullshit you expect <laugh>

If Leeds win I hope they go on to win the final, I don't particularly like Southampton or West Brom

It's always better for your peace of mind in any cup competition, which this is, if the team that beats you goes on to win it.

I apologise for Eire, he’s not usually that positive about us. Obviously putting on a brave front in this instance.
