The fact that Slot is being called head coach and not manager makes me wonder why. It may be to limit his role to coach compared to Klopp who managed and coached e.g he had a say on player transfers - both ways btw.

I'm certain Klopp was head coach when he first arrived but changed to manager as part of a reshuffle

I don't mind the manager / coach having a back seat when it comes to transfers, it makes for a better long term strategy should the manager / coach not work out (hence is insisting on the new manager playing 433). However, they should always have a say and no player should be forced upon them.

If all parties agree to the sign, sign him. If anyone disagrees, don't sign them. Simple.

It's about style and overall club.

You need a very long term view to generate youth up the ranks but I genuinely do not think you can ignore a top top manager because you play 433 (cos klopp did) and you won't hire a man who played 3 at the back.

You need genuine football knowledge at the top to see where the game is going for the future.

Yeah ideal world everyone is aligned in their thinking. I just imagine it to how recruitment works at our company.

Manager says we need a CM with energy strength and defensive ability - similar to creating a vacancy with a job description.

Recruitment team go away come up with longlist and of players and manager/recruitment sit down and go through that shortlist to narrow it down.

Then go away and mark out who is priority number 1 and 2 and take it from there.

Otherwise you end up with recruitment dumping players on managers who they may not be fully on board with or other way manager signs a load of players they know (ten Haag syndrome) and that don’t align to the overral club philosophy and meet the recruitment teams criteria.

Klopp played 4231 at Dortmund

Olise is an excellent player but he doesn't have a very good injury record so it's a no from me. Long term injuries when you're so young, isn't a good sign going forward.

Nunez to barca. The inevitable rumours after the insta debacle.

If it were true and barca had two pennies to rub together I'd be asking if I could drive him there myself.

Nice lad. Works hard but hasn't a clue of offside nor a clue of finishing.

I won't get into the debate again about whether Nunez is good or not. (I think he brings value, but I also think we could do better)...

Regardless of whether you believe he is good or not... There does seem to be a feeling that eventually he IS going to click, be it for us, or somebody else, and suddenly all those misses are going to turn into goals for somebody.

Or... it never will

Many forwards have been labelled, 'if they can just learn to finish', over the years. Trying to think of one that has come good...

If not this summer, i think he has one more season to prove he can cut it. At 25/26 he really should be entering his prime years as a striker, if he's not doing it by then he probably never will

Not that Salah had Darwin's problem... But he "clicked" when he came to us. He didn't hit his best until he moved here (new system perhaps that favoured him?).

Duplicated post. Sorry, here's a limerick to fill this spot so it doesn't look so awkward.

There once was a post duplicated,
Posting is too complicated,.
Delete it, I could not,
it just took up this spot
And made me feel quite nauseated

If Salah has missed the target as much as Nunez he'd have gotten stick sooner. Mo didn't run his bollox off every game

Did someone delete my post with the actual content in it?... The one I edited and said "duplicate post" in was left up and the actual post was deleted

According to Spanish press we will sell Nunez if Barcelona offer us £72million.

Not sure the accuracy of the press... But ok. I would sell for that too... Assuming we have someone else lined up. I would imagine we can get someone at least equal in ability for that, and if Darwin's desire is to

Wonder where Barca are getting the money from.

If it's on the 'never, never' they can **** off. Money up front or give us Pedri, Gavi, or Yamal, the can chuck in Fati for just having to deal with them as well.
