To be fair to him he ran it pretty close twice, the disparity between the top teams in that league is nowhere near the difference between the top end of the Championship and the bottom and we know promotion from this league is still no easy feat for those clubs.

What’s not to like is that he achieved that in a league that ranks alongside the Cypriot and South Korean leagues.

One end of a scale is repeated boring 1-0 wins or similar as a norm. Another end of a scale is repeated losing 3-2 or similar as a norm.
I'm sure all of us, including Acun would prefer the former over the latter. Not that either scenario would happen anyway, so it's a bit irrelevant.
But the really simple point is that the owner is rightly aspiring to something that lies in between, being attacking, entertaining, successful football. Surely that's what we would want too?

In fairness Ange came from the A-League and J-League before Celtic.

I can get people knocking players for the standard they’ve played at but coaching in my opinion would be easier to transfer across divisions

Ange managed the national team to a WC and won the Asian Cup, he had a very diverse range of experience.

Of course, that would be the ideal.

My post was clearly an exaggeration served to highlight I value results over performance. Directly responding to a post about 'what's not to like about scoring x amount of goals per week' and also generally to forum discourse of late: attacking football for attacking football's sake.

But surely the point is, and one Ange made himself is that it's all relative. When he coached at other levels he had less resources etc, so coaching at a higher level didn't present a more difficult proposition.

For every Shota there’s a Rohl

True. More my point is that every one knocks a lack of English football experience when a lot of the recent manager successes are managers coming in from abroad or ex assistant coaches being given an opportunity

It does though, the nature of the league, the egos of the players, the expectations of the owner. In the A-League there's no relegation for instance.

    Shota flopped.

Yeah the lack of English experience isn't the big issue it's a lack of experience at a particular level.

Ange at the start of the season was saying 'just play your style of play with any players it doesn't matter' now he's saying he needs to overhaul the squad. Think he was a bit cocky.

To be honest, I don't watch much PL and I didn't really know much of him when he joined Spurs.

League position wise, for Spurs, he's done pretty well has he not?

I think generally speaking it’s easier for coaches to make the move. Yes there are challenges don’t get me wrong but I don’t think it’s quite the hurdle compared to what players have to overcome.

Some of the more successful managers in the prem have come from lesser leagues

    De Zerbi
    Ange
    Frank
    Silva

I mean there's always detail within something but again, this was the point Ange made. Yeah Shota was a riot and there's no defending that, a terrible decision, a terrible coach, apparently a nice guy though haha. Walter seems like a serious coach to me, whether he works out or not who knows but I would predict him being experienced enough to transfer his skills over to the championship and make a go of it.

I more mean I think he was a bit cocky with how easy he could get them up to speed with his style of play. It's not as transferrable as he thinks.

Silva's onto his fourth club in the PL, Frank had been there a while. De Zerbi was managing in the CL wasn't he?
