18 months of wages, so probably best part of £1m. It's the wage bill going from £12m to £23m that's the killer as the vast majority of signings didn't work. Of the senior players signed, I think only Tufan and Seri will be at the club next season. So that's a lot of money to waste in a short period of time Only cost £8m too, seems a bargain.
You can't. What you can do is make sure you're not paying millions in fees and 40k a week for someone you can't move on without like we have at times in the past. And like other championship clubs have to far more detrimental long term effect than our policy has so far
I'm not quite sure how this post is related to what we're talking about - i.e. assessing how much money we've wasted on signings under Acun.
I was replying to brady and shark. I'm just saying that even though we've made mistakes, we've protected ourselves pretty well too. We're not talking Chansiri here. Not yet at least.
We, hull city aren't buying Maribor, Acun Medya is. And maybe Acun Medya wouldn't be buying Maribor if they could spend what they wanted at City under FFP.
How have we protected ourselves well? If it wasn't for the sale of academy graduates, we'd be completely ****ed. Out of all the players we've signed, the only one that has been a substantial success we can profit on is Philogene.
So middlesboro don't have to do the same to compete under FFP? Only ones who don't have the benefit of parachutes, and even some of those do too. Steve Gibson is seen as one of the most supportive and committed fan-owners in the country. Same as Coates at Stoke. Look at what better financed and more established clubs have done then judge in context. That's all I'm saying. It's not been at all disastrous in the greater scheme.
Well Boro have a substantially bigger revenue and they have a better academy which they rely heavily on. Their recruitment is a bit hit and miss but they've still sold players for massive profits (Rogers and Akpom)
Boro made a fortune from selling just Akpom Rogers And martin And then got aziz and latte lath combined for less than 10m!!! Thats insane business
I'll refer you to companies house again. They didn't do it out of choice. It's just a fact that you need to develop, sell and reinvest to compete with parachute money if you want a consistent chance of competing without parachutes. On balance the value of the squad is more than Acun has spent. Bigger picture, that's competent recruitment
It's a distinction without a difference. Investment in infrastructure is outside FFP. It's money Acun Medya could be spending on Hull City's infrastructure.
They are planning to spend on infrastructure, but you dont get spades in the ground for a multi million investment within 2 years of ownership in this country, especially if you're developing council land. And it will be done outside ffp. The money isn't the issue. Being allowed to spend it is
The money is the issue quite clearly, when they refer to spending money on improving the pitch as coming out of the playing budget.
But they're trying to develop the land around the stadium which seems bizarre when there isn't enough room and we're no further along than we were 2 years ago.
I might be being daft, but spending £20m on a top-notch academy seems a no-brainer when you can sell 1 player to cover it. If we sold Greaves, didn't reinvest a penny into the playing squad but built a Cat 1 level academy, I'd have absolutely no issue with that.
If Acun puts in 24m this year and 6 the previous 2 to take us more or less to the ffp limit, then I don't think you can criticise him for not having the money. If the pitch is coming out of ffp, then it will be to do with the minutia of detail involved in what counts and doesn't count against ffp. The pitch is maintenance. Its a bit different to large infrastructure. Maybe go and read up on clauses or ask Kieran Maguire.
Who criticised? Acun suggests if FFP didn't exist he'd spend more money. But if money for the pitch has to come out of the playing budget rather than just sitting on top then quite clearly we don't have too much in the way of excess funds. I didn't say the pitch is coming out of FFP I said that Tan said the money, the cash, is coming out of the playing budget. The investment in the pitch is not counted for FFP. I think you're getting confused with what is being said. If Acun has a huge pot of money, but is moaning that we are restricted to 30m of losses over three years because he has all this other money he wants to spend, then he could quite easily spend that on the pitch, on the Academy, on the training ground, etc. But Tan at the first live event said any money spent on the pitch would be pulled out of the playing budget, meaning we don't have this excess pool of money above and beyond the playing budget.
We are though aren't we. The preliminaries have been done and plans outline plans submitted. If you think the admin process involved in permissions should be quicker, then yes I agree it should, but you've clearly never been involved in UK planning, especially surrounding public land.
